Cosplay for next year
A few of my friends have been doing these, so I thought I'd post some cosplay plans for next year of my own.
Firefly: River (Serenity version) ( pic )
Changed my mind about which River costume I was going to do - it'll be the better known blue one from Serenity. Planning to wear this costume to Swancon and the Cosplay Ball.
Stuff to do:
Make dress (comes in two parts - an under-dress with straps and a chiffon-y thing that goes over it)
Make attachable black sleeves (not in the pic, these disappear after that first fight scene)
Make Chinese-style coat (again, disappears after the fight scene)
Buy/mod boots
Track down enough consistent reference pics that I can decide what shade of blue everything's supposed to be!
learn to do the splits XD
Yu Yu Hakusho: Hiei ( pic )
Stuff to do:
Style wig (liek whoa)
Coat (black with red lining)
Singlet and pants (both pretty simple, but I suspect they'll still wind up being custom made)
Decide how many belts I want (no seriously, he wears anything from one to *five* at different parts of the series)
Buy/mod boots
Sword and sheath (another round of craft foam and sheet plastic, I'm betting)
Teardrop pendant
Red contacts
Random bandages
Rig headband so that it disappears under the hair without showing up at the back
Track down good quality face paint or temporary tattoos for for third eye + dragon tattoo
practice glaring at people
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: Syaoran ( pic - the black coated one at the bottom, not the more familiar version at the top)
Stuff to do:
Buy and style wig
Coat (black with red lining again)
Black pants (wonder if I'll be able to get away with recycling Hiei's for this?)
Make sword (looks a lot like the original CCS!Syaoran's)
Rig up blindfold to cover only one eye
Track down face paint for symbols on arms... but I'll already have done that for the last costume, won't I?
I never would have thought there'd be much similarity between a YYH character and a CLAMP character, but somewhere between here and next year, I'm going to have to get good at making swords, black coats with red lining, rigging blindfolds up so that they sit under my hair and sitting still while people paint stuff all over my arms. Huh.
If anyone's interested, Lisa's doing Kaylee's Big Pink'n'White Boofy Dress from Firefly for Swancon and the Cosplay Ball, and Kurama from YYH for Waicon. She may or may not come up with a second costume for Waicon between now and then, but so far we figure that between running a table and everything else she does at Waicon, one day without a new costume to worry about isn't going to be a tragedy.
We've never tried for more than three costumes between the two of us in one year before, so either way, this is going to be a bit of an adventure.
So, anyone got any cool plans for new years? 'Cause over here right now, our schedule's looking sorta blank. ^^;
