I can, because I don't think it's really that cut and dried. In signing that piece of paper, Gunn was continuing what they all had been since the beginning of the season - when the group got murderers acquitted so they could help out other people. They've all been making the gamble all season long. They've all walked that line. Angel more than anyone else.

That's a good point, and I guess I'm just as guilty as Gunn is here, because while I know they've been making rash and dangerous decisions, up until now, it hasn't killed any of the characters that I care about. I do agree though, that Gunn's initial decision to sign that paper was no more damaging than any one decision any of them have made.

I guess that my problem with Gunn lies in what Wesley said to him right before the stabbing (which made me jump and yell). While the initial decision was understandable, it was keeping quiet afterward that may be unforgivable. There's no proof that if he'd said he knew anything about what was going on, Fred could have been saved. But there's no proof against it, either.

I know that's not really what I said in my original post, so feel free to yell "You're changing your position!" I posted not long after I'd watched the episode, and my thoughts were still all jumbled. Now I've had a chance to think about it, and read the opinions of others.

And wow, how hypocritical of Wes is it to be angry at Gunn for witholding information? Of course, Wes doesn't know he's being hypocritical, so is it really hypocritical? Ow. Now I have a headache. Damn space-time continuum anomalies -- I thought I was free of those when Voyager went off the air.

Reminded me of Angel getting tossed off the roof by the Beast in S4.

Yeah, that parallel didn't hit me 'til later. Every time I rewatch one of this season's episodes, I catch more allusions to the past.

And I refuse to believe, that if they knew Angel were asking for any help - that Buffy, Willow, and Faith wouldn't do whatever they could to help him.

Yeah, I'm thinking Giles would be in for some major trouble if any of those three find out about this little miscommunication. Of course, all the characters already have so many skeletons in their respective (and collective) closets that the chances of this particular one making its way out into the open are quite slim.
