Oh yeah, and I'm also kind of clinging to the premise "day game during the Texas summer." The ball travels well off the bat in those conditions, but pitches won't break quite the way you want them to; and when you're not as accustomed to the heat and the weather conditions . . . well, it's not too surprising that bad things happened.
Doesn't make me any happier about it, but I've gotta find some way to console myself, right?
I was listening on the radio at lunch, but I had to go back to work when it was 8-3. I think I'm actually rather glad about that. I did get to hear Vlad and GA hit their homeruns, which helped a little, but I'm sure it wouldn't have been enough if I'd listened to the entire game. I feel for you.
And yeah, I'm clinging to the same excuses. I was going, "Well, it's very hot. Our pitchers are used to temperate weather, and this is the first time Santana's pitched in this weather at this level (which doesn't excuse the rest of them, but oh well...), and the ball carries farther, and..."
