Quick update on the new job.

First, I got a raise -- more of one than I expected, which is very cool! Unfortunately, I think that even with the raise I'll be making a little bit less than I've been making lately in Romoland, as I was getting five hours of overtime a week, and that's gone now. But that was never a sure thing -- it could have disappeared any time my manager or upper management said so, so this is probably better in the long run.

The job I'm doing is mostly data entry, which is nice, since I like data entry, and there's less of the dealing with the customers. Also nice. The phones are a bit crazier -- Romoland had five lines, and I think Riverside has either eight or ten.

Everyone's been really nice to me so far, so I'm happy. I was afraid there'd be animosity, since I did end up taking someone's position, and it was someone that everyone got along with. But so far, I haven't seen any resentment. We'll see if any comes later.

This office is a bit more structured -- it has to be, since it's bigger. But there's also more space between the desks, so it's not so intimate, which is better, because over there, there really was no private space. And they use a paging system instead of just shouting across the office, and there is voice mail in Riverside, which we didn't have in Romoland. Things are just a little more... formal, I guess. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, so we'll see.

It was funny, though, I kept confusing people. I'd answer the phone, and people would go, "Good morning... did I dial the right plant?" Hee. I tried to tell everyone I'd talked to in the last couple of days that I'd be going to Riverside, but a bunch of people still didn't know.

Okay, I have to go now, or I'll be late!
