Um... how exactly was keeping the ball the "right thing" to do? He makes it sound like he was keeping it out of the goodness of his heart and in everybody's best interests or something.
And the second part of the quote is funny -- "I didn't think it was going to come out to this." -- because just a little bit earlier in the article, he says the trade had nothing to do with this.
It's all amusing.
