"Love at first sight, it may sound trite, but it's true, you know..."

Whew. Please. Make it all stop.

Tuesday, the first group in English presented. They made us look bad, I think. Actually, I think both of the other groups did a better job than we did, but I don’t know. I went to rhythmic aerobics, and there was a general consensus between Jenessa, Laura, Jess, and I to skip the last lecture, so we did.

Wednesday was hell. Ugh. I had class from 9:00 to 1:00, then grabbed lunch. I studied in the geology help room for an hour before lab started. I got in there at 3:00 and took my final (the lab one, mind you - I still have another geology final to take on Wednesday.). It only took 45 minutes, surprisingly. I feel confident, but I still don’t know how I did. I stopped by Bracken to do one of the assignments for geology. I thought I had done all three that were assigned, but I accidentally did one of the wrong ones, so I fixed that. I went back to my room, traded some books for others, and stopped by the lounge for a bit because I actually had more time than I figured I would.

Around 6:00, I called Jess and asked if she still wanted me to meet her mom. Jess met me downstairs at Brayton/Clevenger and I went up to her room for a bit. We talked about our schedules for next semester (it’s going to be great for eighteen credit hours), and some ideas for the room next year. I haven’t been able to look inside it, but we’ve agreed that both of us are lofting to save room, and that over the summer I will be constructing something to put the futon mattress I got from Jack to work (Alex says that he’ll help me with it if I need it. Such a sweetie.). We were going to get a futon, but as a photojournalism major, Jess realized that would require her to get a camera - a very expensive camera. I’m so glad we’re on the same level of thinking - a futon would be too much.

Anyway, her mom and grandparents arrived to help take some of her stuff back to Fort Wayne and take her loft down. I didn’t get to spend much time with them, but they seem like a bunch of nice people. I’m really excited for next year, as if I haven’t mentioned that enough.

I stopped by and saw Alex for a bit longer after getting dinner, and then I had to drag myself away to Bracken for my group meeting at 8:00, which had previously been scheduled for 7:00. Well, I pushed and I prodded, and I was able to be back at Botswin by 8:30, since I felt that my work with the project was done, which it was.

Thursday, we gave our group presentation, went well, except I gave hating, laser-glare looks at Bri, who had been a pain in my ass throughout the project throughout it. She got really snippy at me right before we went because she forgot her laptop and needed to use mine, which I explained couldn’t be hooked up to the projector because of the type it was. I said I didn’t have cables for it, and she said, “Well, I can’t remember everything,” in such a condescending tone. Also, she ended up using our instructor’s laptop for the presentation because as I said, mine was a different type. Grr...

Oh well, it is all over now. At least Bill could give me some encouraging words.

There was a water balloon fight in the V in the afternoon, and Alex cooked hot dogs. I didn’t participate, but I took pictures. I was still not immune, however, because James crushed a water balloon in his hand while chasing Mo around and I got caught in the crossfire. Ha!

The only consolation for Wednesday’s hell was the fact that both my geology and history classes weren’t meeting on Friday, so I only had to deal with German and anthropology. I walked back to La Follette with Casey, and we passed Bill on the way, who wished me a good summer.

I met Anna at 2:00 for lunch, and she was getting initiated into her sorority that night. She was both excited and nervous about it. I wished her the best of luck. I went back to Botswin, and they were having a cookout in the V. I didn’t eat, but I hung out there for a while. I had to meet Jess and Mike for a study session in Bracken at 5:30, but when I showed up, there was only Jess and her boyfriend, Bob. We waited until 5:45, and Mike didn’t show up, so we grabbed some food at the Atrium and split.

I played a little Katamari Damacy in Alex’s room, but he was a little tired. I understood and left. That was only around 11:30, I think. I went back to my room and crashed. I woke up to my alarm around 7:00 Saturday morning and dressed. I called Alex on my way to Botswin because he had to sign me in. I woke him up, actually, because he missed his alarm. I’m glad I could be of some help.

Julie and I hung out in the lobby waiting for other Habitat for Humanity volunteers to show up. It was mainly a Botswin thing, but I saw the signs and Alex said he was going to do it. I figured, “Well, I’m not doing anything on Saturday...” so that’s how I ended up joining in as well. We went to the house, and we put insulation in the crawlspace, installed floor joists and braces, and they were beginning to put the floor in when we left around noon. I enjoyed myself, and not just because Julie and I were making perverted carpentry jokes and I was in perpetual worry that she might put a nail through my hand with the nail gun while I held braces for her. I really think that my first goal next year is to find a job, and then I’ll try and find some volunteer opportunities on campus.

We returned after noon, and Alex and I grabbed food from La Follette. I went to my room and ate, and then took my shower. I studied in my room for about five hours and then met with Alex at 6:00 for dinner. We went with Nick, Tom, Sarah, and Krista to Noyer, and then returned to the lounge briefly so Sarah and I could get hoodies and I could get my camera. Then, Tom, Krista, Sarah, Tenny, and I went to the Spectrum Spring Drag Show at Ball Gym. I’ve never been to a drag show, but I’ve always wanted to. Oh my god, it was so much fun. I was surprised at how many people I knew there, too. And at least one guy was so convincing as a woman, I turned to Krista and said, “Is it wrong to think that she’s hot?” and she said no. A few months ago, Carly and Alyssa had asked me if I wanted to join them in their act of “Greased Lightning.” I declined, but they did a pretty good job. I think Carly makes a great drag king. I loved Julie’s performance of “Sexyback,” as well. I only regret that I didn’t have any cash on hand to tip the girls.

Sarah, Krista, Tenny, and Tom went to Late Nite to see if they could grab some free food. I met up with Brandon, and he escorted me back to Botswin. I was glad to not walk alone at night. Alex and I went back to my room and hung out for a while, listening to music. However, I was exhausted after the long day, so he left around 1:00, I think.

I woke up today around 11:30. It was so difficult to get up, but I made myself do it. I took my shower, ate lunch, and then worked on studying. I took my rhythmic aerobics lecture final around 3:30, and then called my parents. Let me tell you, that was fun...

Dad got sick with a virus of some sort a few months ago, and I remembered him telling me that. Well, he began to feel some vertigo and had dizzy/nauseous spells occasionally. He finally went to the emergency room, and they ran some tests on him. He got an MRI, and luckily, it’s nothing with his heart and it isn’t cancer, but he has something called labyrinthitis. It deals with the inner ear, and the virus he had before was probably a factor in it. He’s lost some hearing in his right ear, and he’ll probably have to get a hearing aid before long. He told me that he didn’t tell me about it before because he didn’t want me worrying about it. I can understand that, but I’m worrying now anyway.

Alex and Cindy are fine. David has his First Communion this upcoming weekend. I wish I could go, but that’s impossible. He has braces now, too, because apparently his overbite is even worse than mine. He says he likes them so far because they make him look older, but I laughed and told Dad that won’t last long. I’ve had so many friends with braces, I know. Also, David has to get surgery on one of his ears because of a large cell growth, or something like that. It’s not a tumor, but it is still something that should be taken care of because it could cause hearing loss. Whew.

Mom’s doing all right. She’s coming up on Wednesday to take most of my belongings and leaving me with the bare essentials to live on until Saturday. Alex will be taking me home, then. I’m so not ready to go. I’m not ready for finals, either.

I’ve studied a lot today. More tomorrow night, and more on Tuesday night. I saw Alex briefly tonight, but he’s doing midnight breakfast for Botswin tonight. I told him if he needed any help, he could call me. He’s been so stressed out recently, though. He won’t get to sleep tonight until 1:00, and he’ll probably collapse. So yeah, neither time with the boyfriend tonight, nor any lounge time. I’m tired myself. I know I need to study more history, but I think I’ll work on that tomorrow. I have a German final tomorrow morning, and then a lot of free time. My history and anthropology finals are back to back on Tuesday, and then I have geology bright and early on Wednesday. And then... it’s over.

I’m not ready. Please make it stop.
