"You can lick my body and soul..."

I know. I’m terrible at keeping track nowadays. It makes me so sad. I resolve to try and update more frequently again, but it can be difficult.

I don’t remember much of last week now, sadly. But when Kayla returned from home over Labor Day weekend, she brought a ton of DVDs with her. It was insane. She filled a drawer and two shelves full of all the DVDs she brought, while I have a Rubbermaid container full under my bed.

I had no classes on Labor Day, so I spent some time with Krista, but then I had classes on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, I gave a narrative speech in class about two years ago when I met a guy on a flight and how he seemed to change my life, but I’ll never meet him again, so it’s sad...

Chris and Jeff came up to visit on Thursday, and we kept begging them to stay, but they couldn’t. That night I attended Botswin Swingers, or as I just like to say, Botswingers. It’s a mini swing lesson for Swing Society people who couldn’t make it to the meetings on Monday. I met this really cute guy. He had introduced himself to me as Chuck, and I He was my partner, and he was really cooperative, since we were on the same level. We talked, and he’s an actuarial science major. He asked me my major, and I told him it was English education, and he said, “I’m bad at English.” “Funny,” I said, “I’m bad at math.

We were actually really good dancers for beginners, Austin had told me. That made me very happy. And then later, someone called him by the name Tom, and I was confused. He turned to Nick and said, “I told her my name was Chuck, and she totally believed me.” I was a little embarrassed. I told this story to Krista, and she refers to him as “Chucktom.” He’s a fun guy to be around, though, I’ll admit.

I hung out in the Botswin lobby until 11:30, because it’s just that cool of a place to be. I ate an elephant ear and joined a mud volleyball team that night as well. It was amazing.

On Friday, I had my classes, and I high-fived Happy Friday Guy!

After my classes, they were having a dedication at the new telecommunications building, but not just any dedication - it was for David Letterman! So, Jessie, Leigh, and I got together and went to the huge dedication, and it rained, but it was still a great thing to be a part of.

Friday was also Leigh’s birthday, and things were going fantastic for her until she heard that her driver’s side window was smashed through with a beer can. It’s replaced now, but that’s a really crappy thing to have happen on one’s birthday.

I was a bit lonely and no one was really doing anything, so I walked down the hall to the study lounge. It was movie night, and some of the girls were there with Tarrah watching Pride and Prejudice. The movie is good, but I didn’t want to fall asleep, so I called Mom and then finished watching the movie with them. Then, we watched The Devil Wears Prada, and then I hung out in my room for a little bit before going to sleep. Some of those girls are really funny. Also, Tarrah announced that we received 24-hour visitation. Heck yeah! Although I have yet to bring anyone back to the dorm for an extended period of time. Usually I’m in other people’s rooms.

Jack had messaged me on Friday before the Letterman building declaration, as he wanted to go see a movie. He talked about coming up to Muncie and watching a movie with me, as I was going to be here for the weekend. I didn’t necessarily think that it was going to happen, but it did! He came up with Matt, and we went to Wal-Mart so I could get cash, and I bought Stand By Me on DVD in order to do so. Then, we went to go see 3:10 to Yuma, and although I rarely watch westerns - the only notable one I know I’ve seen is High Noon, and it’s great - I really enjoyed the movie.

Then, after the movie, I used my meal money and then went upstairs and hung out with Krista, Nick, and Becca.

Sunday, I didn’t eat anything, and then I went into the darkroom with Becca to keep her company. We went in at a quarter to 5:00, and then didn’t leave until after 9:00. Four hours in the darkroom, little lighting, no food, and chemicals. Not a great combination. I felt so sick, and then Becca and I went to Wendy’s and got burgers and fries, and Krista thought we were high because she came in while we were eating and were saying, “OH MY GOD this is SO GOOD! It’s the best thing I’ve eaten in weeks!” And it was.

Blah... had a few days this week where I was just annoyed and in a bad mood and really depressed. I hate it when that happens.

On Monday, there was this writer’s group that I went to. It was a free invitation to read something out loud, but I was so nervous. My seat was right in the middle, and I just felt so awkward. Kayla’s best friend J.D. was there, and so was this guy from my secondary education class, Jarrett, who was also in attendance. That was cool.

After that meeting, I went to swing, and Brandon was my partner. I love him to death, but it was his first meeting, and it wasn’t as fun as it was when I was dancing with Tom. We switched around partners, and then Kristin was lead and I was follow, and she was spinning me around so much and so fast, and it made me so happy.

Tuesday, my secondary education class walked to Burris Laboratory School to check out the campus there. It teaches grades kindergarten through twelve, and it was so tiny. I didn’t like it because it felt so claustrophobic.

Anyway, our class was going down to the first floor, and since we’re on the eighth floor and only one out of three elevators seemed to be working, we packed ourselves in there. We had about three people missing, but we fit everyone, including our instructor, into the elevator - over twenty people, if you will. The weight capacity is 2500 pounds. Hmm...

It was still amusing, nevertheless. It’s such a lovely game to play.

I was surprised at the lack of anything related to 9/11 on September 11th. Dr. Wiedmer briefly said something about it in relevance to being a teacher and having to know what is going on in the world and how to handle the panic. But only briefly...

Chris and Jack came to visit Dawn on Wednesday. I begged to get off campus for a little bit, and we went to the mall. I bought a headband and a She Wants Revenge shirt. I then had a craving to listen to She Wants Revenge, but all my music is still at home after being wiped off my iPod mysteriously, so I watched music videos.

I had a question for Brad, one of the guys in my math class, and I was amazed at how fast he came down. I forgot he lived in Schmidt/Wilson, so imagine my surprise when I heard a knock on my door and there he was. He’s a nice guy.

Last night was fantastic. I went to a meeting at the student center, and then attempted to go to a math study session, but Brad hadn’t specified where in Bracken Library we were meeting, and Bracken is huge.

Kayla sent me a message - she was locked out of the room. It’s habit for me to lock the door when I’m not in there, and she was out on the floor. Well, when I left the room, I locked it. I even saw her when I left and thought, “Gee, I hope she has her keys.” Well, she didn’t, and everything she needed was in the room. She had to borrow shoes and a notebook from one of the girls on our floor so that she could go to class. I had a really good laugh out of that one, and I gave Kayla’s keys to Tarrah so she could get them back.

I went to the Botswin lobby and we had our mini-swing meeting. Unfortunately, Krista wasn’t able to make it because of her rehearsal schedule, and Austin hadn’t been told. We had no music, and no one was listening to him. It made me quite sad. I did, on the other hand, dance with him, because I had attended Monday’s meeting. So... I got to be really spiffy and demonstrate dance moves for everyone!

After swing, we were just hanging around in the lobby. But then, Dan, Tom, Nick, Chris, Melissa, and I went to the playground at Burris at midnight and were playing around there. Tom walked back to La Follette to get a female friend over there, and Nick went with him. Dan and Melissa were together, so Chris and I became bored. We walked around, ended up in the Village, where I pointed out the White Rabbit to him and we saw the people waiting for Greek’s pizza and Carter’s Hot Dogs. Someday, someday, I’ll have a Carter’s hot dog...

Chris and I ended up walking all the way back to Johnson Complex. It was nice to talk to him, as I had officially met him just that night. Although I had met him before and didn’t remember, as he, Blake, Dan, and a few of the other guys are on my mud volleyball team. That’s going to be so exciting - it’s next weekend!

I got back to the dorm around 1:00 and went to bed an hour later. I woke up to the sounds of a man announcing tennis matches over an intercom, puzzled as to what was going on.

I ate breakfast, and as I was leaving, Nick was entering. Trevor was there too, so I stayed and talked with them, and sat with Nick. Then, Nick and I walked together to meet the bus. My speech class at 11:00 was amusing, and I got out five minutes early. I was walking to the student center, and there was this guy next to me that I had met randomly before. His name is Brady, and his brother is in the group that does a skit each Friday in the student center. We talked a little, and he is from Lapel, which is really, extremely close to Pendleton. He’s pretty cool. I want to get to know him more.

We made it to the scramble light, and they had so much going on - a small protest of the proposed smoking ban, people passing out flyers for random things, girls holding up “FREE HUGS” signs, and a promotion for the four-square tournament tomorrow. I saw Adam by the foursquare guys, and I hugged him. He beckoned me to play foursquare with them, and I told him I didn’t know how. So, the guys taught me how, and Adam made me stay until I had moved up a square. I found that funny. I think I might just go to the tournament tomorrow just to check it out and have fun.

I met Leigh, Blake, Grant, and Nick for lunch, and then Sarah and Kat joined us, followed by Chris, Tom, and Pete, and then Jessie and Drew. We had quite the crew in the student center. Happy Friday Guy came through, we had our skit, and I ate delicious mashed potatoes and chicken noodles.

I had German class, followed by a test in math class, and I returned to the dorm.

Now, I am doing laundry, just hanging out in the laundry room. I’m paranoid that someone might try to come by and take my clothes out or something, and so I’ve been in the room for about two hours now. I have been dubbed, thanks to a comment Nick made, I think, "The Laundry Ninja." I defend my clean clothes from the washing machine thieves.

I only did two loads, and the second one is currently in the dryer. That shouldn’t take long. Then, I’ll put my clothes away, possibly wash dishes and vacuum, and then who knows what I’ll do. I’m leaning towards more hanging out in the Botswin lobby. I love being surrounded by geeky guys...although I love Sarah and Kat as well - they are two of the few girls there I actually talk with, and they’re a lot of fun.

Really, who knows what I’ll do...
