"Alas! A Cornucopia of Love!"

On Friday, I was sitting around the house, waiting, hoping Jack would deliver the futon early in the day. That is, until I found out he had been out until 8:00 in the morning. Then, I joined Chris and Jennifer at the park for a few hours and just sat at a picnic table, talking. Jennifer had to go home at 5:00, and Chris and I went back to my house and waited for Nick, Krista, and Becca. Bible study had been cancelled, but we wanted to hang out.

Krista had to go home, but Nick and Becca came with me and Chris and we went to the Castleton Mall and hung out there. I bought a shirt in FYE that has the Star Wars poster in Japanese on it, and Nick bought the same shirt, so we match. I also bought a hat that actually looks good on me, and Becca has a matching one too. I match a lot of people...

The mall closed at 9:00, and then we went to Best Buy. I wanted to kick myself for not buying The Man With the Screaming Brain and the DVD of 101 in FYE, but at least I know where I can find it. I did, however, find the live recording of 101, and I’ve been searching for that and the DVD for a long time. So I bought the CD, and it makes me very happy when I listen to it.

Chris had his truck, so we thought, “Hey, why not pick up the futon from Jack?” So I called and checked, and when we pulled up to the apartments, there was Jack and Dawn, sitting on the futon. Becca and I had to hold it through the back window, though, which was a little scary, especially since I had my body turned in a weird direction and couldn’t breathe.

It was late when I got home. I felt bad about it because I don’t have much time left with my mom before I go to school, but she said it was okay. I still don’t think it is.

Saturday, I had a huge list of things to do before everyone came over for the party, our “Cornucopia of Love.” Luckily, I got all my chores out of the way and I still had enough time to watch The Black Dahlia.

Chris and Dawn were the first at my house a little before 4:30. Everyone else followed. We had about, oh, sixteen of us? I was afraid we wouldn’t have enough food, but we did, and there was a lot left over. No one wanted to take their food home, so now Mom and I have a lot of food.

We broke the record for how many people I could fit on my couch. Ten! And then we went outside and lazed around, and wrestled, and just had fun. We went inside after it had been dark for some time, and we played Curses. I didn’t break a single curse...I think that was the first time that’s happened.

Matt was laughing really hard, and I don’t know how he did it, but he hit his head on one of my mom’s giant potted plants and then discovered it was bleeding like crazy. When he showed me, I nearly fell over in shock. But we took care of him, and the bleeding stopped after a while. Then, everyone else had migrated back outside, and some people were playing a game called Shark, where you have to run from whoever’s “it,” and they can’t see you and have to use their hearing. Well, I was running from Tim, and I didn’t watch out where I was going, and I crashed into Kyle’s shoulder. I hit him so hard; I fell back on the ground and was seeing stars. I was helped up and I got into the light. I thought I had broken my nose, but it was all right. My glasses were destroyed, though, and I had a bruise around my left eye.

So, all in all, it was great to see everyone and I was glad the party was a success, because I really thought it was going to be awful at first. I’m always a hospitable hostess, but sometimes it is difficult when things you don’t plan for happen.

The last people to leave where Matt, Tim, Alyssa, and Becca at around 2:00 AM. I then went inside, cleaned up the house, and found my spare pair of glasses. I rinsed off in the shower, and I sat down in my pajamas and watched Transformers (the newest cartoon) while eating potato salad. Couldn’t be better.

Sunday, I didn’t really do all that much. We did go to the library, though, and picked up more movies. We came home and ate dinner and watched The Wild and She’s The Man. I stayed up until 4:00 AM trying to upload pictures from the party and watching some of Earth Girls are Easy. There was supposed to be a meteor shower, but I stayed up so long and didn’t see anything.

Monday, I woke up and turned on the television and saw that Earth Girls are Easy was on again. So...I watched it... and then I worked on packing. Bleh. Packing. I know I don’t have far to go to school, but still, I hate packing. It is one thing to pack for a trip, whether it be for a weekend or six weeks, which I also hate to do, but this is packing for months. I’m cramming most of my clothes into suitcases and I have to consider packing things I usually wouldn’t. I’m taking a framed photograph of my brothers - that’s something I’ve never had to take with me before.

It all feels so strange.

Jennifer called and asked me if I wanted to go to Fry’s with her, and I was thrilled to go with her, but then she called back and said she forgot she already had plans. So, I packed, and I packed some more.

Krista came by to pick up her sunglasses, which she had left on Saturday, and it was good to talk to her. I think knowing I have her and Becca living close by and knowing that they have at least one year of college experience under their belts eases my apprehension. I love them so.

Mom came home from the gym and we watched All the King’s Men. The performances are great, but I became fidgety and lost some interest in it part of the way through.

I stayed up late, but I printed off my weekly schedule for my classes. It’s looking pretty good. My earliest class is on Monday at 10:00, while during the rest of the week my classes don’t start until 11:00. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, my last class ends at 2:50, while on Tuesdays and Thursdays, my last class ends at 3:15. Not bad at all!

I woke up this morning and it was unusually cold for August.

Today, I have to do dishes and finish packing. I’ll be meeting some friends later and we’re going to have Mongolian barbeque. Jennifer said we might also stop at Fry’s, since we didn’t go yesterday, but I’m not holding my breath.

When I get home from that, I need to help Mom fill the car with my belongings, and tomorrow I have to wake up early so we can get to Ball State and move me in. I’m lucky, too, since their system has us move in reverse alphabetical order, and so I get to be in the first time slot. Shyes!
