"And on this day of days, the basment killed the posters." [pictures included]

So, joyusnes happened this morning! We got to pick up my dad from the train station. :D I haven't seen him since Christmas break b/c he ended up leaving before I found out I was coming home at the end of Spring quarter. So I haven't seen him. :( But, before we could do that, oh no. No, the house decided to give us a present this morning in the basement before we could do that.

It flooded.

For the past week or so we've been getting nothing but rain. The other day, my mom spent hours watering the flower beds in the backyard with the soaker hoses, only for a storm to crop up that night. But that's not what did it in for us, b/c the part of the basement that flooded is against the front of the house. That was the 10" of rain we got yesterday, plus, my mom used the soaker hoses out in the front yard that morning before the storm, despite the little bit of rain the night before.

So it wasn't flooding flooding, but it was a lot of standing water from the walls. Which we didn't find until AFTER it did it's joyous job of destroying something of mine. Now, the basement used to be my bedroom for a while. So a lot of my stuff is down there from then. Including when I worked at the local movie theater. So I amassed a lot of memorabilia from those times.

Mostly my movie posters. Not the kind you buy in the store or online or anything, but the Teaser Posters. You know, the ones in the lighted display cases. Yea, they're awesome. And when they're done in the cases, they get thrown away. So now-a-days, the old ones of the 50's and such are really valuable. Well, I love movies. So I get one's that are popular or have cult followings (or will amass one), and ones I just generally liked. The one poster I had and now can't find (although it may be on the couch behind me) is a "300" poster. :( But I do have my happy "Hot Fuzz" posters. :D

So I've now spent the past four hours pulling them apart and laying them out to dry. The only casualties of my extensive collection were my "Lady in the Water," "Pulse," and one of my "How to Eat Fried Worms" posters. They will be missed. A moment of silence please.

......

ANYWAY! The reason I collect them? So I can one day sell them to either pay for college or to help out my family. So I always kept any good posters that went through the theater. Here's an idea of just how many I have:

And those are not including the one's in my bedroom and the undamaged ones on top of the wardrobe downstairs. So yea. Just a peek at went on today. Dad's finally home and the basement went wacko. :) Just another normal Monday.

Now to go and sleep. >_<

P.S. - For those of you who don't mind subtitles or foreign films, check out the 2005 French film "Angel-A" directed by Luc Besson starring Jamel Debbouze and Rie Rasmussen. An awesome film! Don't let the Black & White fool you! It's worth watching! :D

[EDIT]
Here's a pic of all my posters. With the exception of the before mentioned "deaths" and the "The Fountain" poster, which was drying off to the side when I took this. Told you I have a lot. ^_^'
