(Stupid ass LJ deleted my draft, the fuckers. [And then saved it the second time, thank goodness.])
Okay, as I was saying. Good news first!
Jessye (my little sister) had her admissions interview for
Sidwell Friends Upper School in D.C. I so hope she gets in. She hasn't told anyone she was applying in case she doesn't, so it'll be so cool if she does and gets to brag to people. Not that I don't want her to go to T.C. (my alma mater), but it's not the place I want my straight-A sister to end up. It was great for me as a bright C-average student, but shitty on my self-esteem. It's not where I want her. She deserves to be in Sidwell and they'd be lucky as hell to have her! And yes, before I'm asked here, it is the school the Obama girls attend, and no, they are NOT the reason she applied. We've been trying to get her in since 5th grade. ((sigh)) But if she doesn't get in, I'm so begging my mom to put her in one of the two private schools we have here in the city.
So! In that regard, fingers crossed, everyone, please!
Now, the not so good news.
Torchwood, in all its amazing glory of love, is being discussed by FOX to be "
American-ized." I'm with
ericadawn16 (and many others if tumblr and Twitter are anything to go by) on
this: WTF, FOX?! This is the US. You know? The country that flip-flops decisions, can't decide if it wants to leaglaize gay marriage, and puts anything remotely "gay oriented" on order-to-watch channels (i.e. HBO and Showtime)! Yes, Torchwood is amazing, I know. There are those of us here in the States who would love to see it outside of OnDemand. But putting it on local/network TV? That means you're watering it down. And knowing you as a network? It'll last 4, maybe 5, episodes before you pull the plug.
FOX and BBC? Not good bedmates. Sci-fi and FOX? Even WORSE bedmates if Firefly and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles are anything to go by. Hell, I'm still stoked as fuck that Dollhouse made it back for a second season (even though I had no idea when the premier was and I haven't even seen all of episode 1 and on yet). Even with RTD (the douche) and BBC writers on board, I don't see it happening to last. John Barrowman, if you read this by some amazing feat of destiny, PLEASE DON'T DO IT!!! Besides, you want "American Torchwood?" Watch Fringe, it's probably the closest we'll get without losing half the plot and all of the subtext. UGH!!!
And for those of you unfamiliar with Torchwood, go familiarize yourself on YouTube. Becasue these pretties are what we'll be missing:
THE
BEST DAMN COUPLE TO EVER HIT CANNON
And then, as if that wasn't enough of an ass-rape to BBC3 programming, SyFy (I still hate their new "name," it's like SpellChek was never invented) has ordered Being Human for this summer's Sweeps. This amazingly done show doesn't need to be "
Americanized!" It's brilliant on its own! I do, however, concede that I wouldn't mind seeing this in its re-imagined form. Why? Well, one because so far it's only nine episodes entirely so there won't be much for SyFy to screw over, and two is the writers (writer, really) chosen to lead the scripts: husband Jeremy Carver (Supernatural) and wife Anna Fricke (Privileged). Supernatural's fanbase is huge and reasuring in knowing the main genre of the show will be well taken care of. It's the "drama" part that I'm worried about if Privileged is what we have to base that on. I wasn't too big a fan of the show when it started, and I don't even know if it still runs, I'm so far out of the loop. Then again, I saw it as my second Gossip Girl fix of the week. ((shrugs)) Being Human mixed with a Gossip Girl wannabe? Mmm. Think we may have to wait and see on that one.
Source Article Quote:
Stern also revealed that husband-and-wife duo Jeremy Carver ("Supernatural") and Anna Fricke ("Privileged") have been tapped as the writers of the latter [Being Human]. "[He's] kind of got the genre cred and Anna comes out of a more character-based drama world so between them they'll be really interesting."

The Futon Critic Until then, troll YouTube and BBC America OnDemand for this amazing series. You won't be disappointed, I promise. Here's some non!spoilery!snapshots from the show.
See if you can spot all the actors who had Doctor Who cameos. 8D
Can't guess? Here are the ones I definitely know. In order of left-to-right, top-to-bottom:
Russel Tovey (George (1st pic)) is Alonso in the Christmas Specials Voyage of the Damned and End of Time (pt. 2).
Lenora Crichlow (Annie (4th pic)) is Cheen (the pregnant female half of Martha's Fast Lane kidnappers) in season three's Gridlock.
Dean Lennox Kelly (Tully (6th pic)) is the very flirty Shakespeare in season three's The Shakespeare Code.
Sinead Keenan (Nina (sadly not pictured)) is Addams (female Vinvocci (green aliens)) in this year's Christmas Special End of Time.
Now for some more fandom news!
Caprica!!! OMG! CAPRICA!!! As if my embarassing foray into the Battlestar Galactica fandom wasn't already stunted enough, the prequel series comes out. And for all that is holy in fandom, it is AMAZING! Unlike my mom, who will be watching this with me later on, I know general plots and history of the BSG series, thanks in part to watching the end of seires special like a dumbass. Anyway, it's amazing and I don't want to say anymore about it. But see it! It's another SyFy series, but thankfully an original one. w00ts!
Other great thing about this show? My four years of middle/high school Latin weren't for naught! WHAAA! XD
And as a last note: One thing I love about BBC shows? The NOVELS! Of which the two mentioned in this post have. :)
Welp, that is all. 8D Enjoy this in case I don't update for a while again. Laters!
