A wedding, a baptism, a few holidays, and so much more

Mar 20, 2007 18:04

Dear readers, I must apologize for the month+ lull in updates. For once it wasn't due to lack of events to write about, but because I was actually too busy. Here are some chronological highlights:

Valentine's Day
Ben and I went to a fancy schmancy restaurant downtown and then to the Lyric Opera to see Cosi fan tutte. It was phenomenal in many aspects: the music, the length of the opera (pushing 4 hours!!), and the price. Afterwords Ben had to carry me through downtown since it had been snowing and sleeting through the whole performance. A fun evening all around.

Promotion
I've been promoted! I am now an Associate Editor with McGraw-Hill School Solutions.

Chrissy's Wedding
My oldest sister, Chrissy, got married on the 10th. I flew back a few days early to relax and do wedding-type activities such as a manicure, a pedicure, and the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Everything went smoothly, but Chrissy was very relieved to have the day over with in the end.

Ilianna's Baptism
My niece Ilianna was baptized the morning after Chrissy's wedding. Since I am her godmother I was given the honor of holding her over the font as she was baptized. She looked like a beautiful little doll in her baptismal gown. . . . Check out the pictures of the baptism and wedding here.

of Montreal Concert
My favorite band, of Montreal was in town and I was thrilled to get a ticket to their sold-out concert. My roommate and Elizabeth and I had a great time seeing the band perform; so much so that I momentarily considered quitting my job and becoming a roadie. . .

Double Post-Nuptial St. Patrick's Day Bachelorette Party
Amy and Chrissy made it up to Chi-town (or Chi-tonw, if you prefer) for St. Patrick's Day to celebrate their post-wedding bachelorette parties. Since Amy got married in Vegas and Chrissy didn't have a chance to have one in the midst of her wedding craziness, the time was finally ripe for them to let their hair down and enjoy . . . not being single . . . or something. Anyway, there was much revelry, some of it drunken, but all of it good-natured. And, as a bonus, I was able to successfully keep everyone out of jail and/or the hospital, as my mother asked me to.

So, that's what I've been up to. Yesterday I took a much needed day of rest and as a result woke up an hour early thinking I slept through my alarm. I took advantage of the extra time this morning to run to Borders to buy the new Andrew Bird album, Armchair Apocrypha. 'Tis excellent, as expected.

That is all, for now, dear readers. Until next time...
