Back to the Drawing Board
I knew this would happen.
After spending all week looking up info and pictures on Goshogawara (Aomori), I finally collected all of the documents needed to apply for the job. I sent in everything yesterday, well before the Jan 31st deadline. I was nervous but excited. This morning I checked my email to see not one, but TWO replies from the school. That boded well!
Then I read the first email.
Apparently the current teacher decided two days ago that they wanted to leave Goshogawara a month earlier than planned, so this forced the owner to be "hasty" and accept the first decent person who came along. Unfortunately this person was not me. The owner informed me that the other person's resume was "nearly identical" to mine but I had the added benefit of actually caring about the area, something which he thinks his students would love. That's great... but if it doesn't get me a job it really isn't making me feel any better. In fact, it made me feel a lot worse.
The initial candidate has until Wednesday to accept or decline the job, and I am next in line... I think. So basically within the next few days I will find out whether I have a job or whether my treacherous journey into unemployment will continue.
I'm bad at being unemployed. I hope I don't have to deal with it much longer!
