getting closer
.journal.
just some quick sketches as i'm still easing back into drawing for myself =) i'll post anatomy studies soon, there's just a lot of it i've done and to be honest, most are really messy and a bit of a hassle for me to shuffle through for scanning. i'm trying to push towards a mixture of my usual style and a bit of realism with faces. it's going alright, but i know i have "ideal" looks for both male and females that i'm having trouble moving from. i would like to show more variety with my characters, especially when it comes to ethnicity!
on the subject of drawing, i'm wondering if any of you suffer from something similar that's been hindering me lately : you see, i don't have a soft touch when i draw, i guess it's like a lead-foot when it comes to driving, but for me i push far too hard with my hand when i draw. i don't even notice it until much later when my pinky-side of my hand is aching. i've been having pain in my hand because of this and i have to take breaks from drawing/typing. i'm trying to be more conscious about it, but it doesn't always work. i'm just afraid i'm probably doing some damage to my hand in the long-run.
ah yeah, so my sprite-test for gaia took place on saturday and oh boy... it was tough! i'm not sure how it'll turn out, but i'm glad i tried it out and thank my buddies for pushing me to try =) if it doesn't pan out, i'll definitely practice more and retry if they ever get more contract work available! i'm very impressed with their spriting technique, i often wondered how it was done.
well, that's all for now =) will check some journal stuff later today. cheers!
