Icon making...
... confuses me at times. I make a lot of icons, and I look at icon tutorials just to get a sense of what's out there and what creative folks are doing, and at times I have a hard time finding anything that I think of as really very creative.
There are 22 billion icon tutorials out there... most of which center on one thing: color. There's no real art in the design at all. It's simply some celebrity's face.... and 5424 ways to change it's color.
I dunno. Maybe it's a phase in icon making. Maybe it's an art form of it's own. But I don't see anything in it I want to emulate. I like DESIGN.. not 14331245 different ways to color in a face. I look at icons made by annwyn55 and ladysnaps and I see design! Not so in a lot of the icon tutorial communities.
