On behalf of the Waymeet Community...

... and the wonderful ladies who are its moderators.

The maintainers would like to announce to interested parties that membership of waymeet is now 'moderated' rather than 'closed'. If you write in the hobbit or hobbit actor fandom and have the time to participate in challenges -- we issue one every 8-10 weeks but there's no obligation to write for every challenge -- please click on the 'to join the community' link at the top of the profile page. Your membership request will be placed in the moderation queue.

The profile page and the Rules should give you a fair idea of waymeet's aims but if you have any questions please feel free to ask them here or e-mail us at semyaza@shemhazai.com.

In brief:

We accept works based on or inspired by The Lord of the Rings (book and films), The Hobbit (book and films), and relevant volumes of The History of Middle-earth (i.e. Vols. 6 through 9 and The History of the Hobbit).

We therefore welcome Fictional Person Slash and General stories wherein canon hobbits play the central roles, and Real Person Slash and General stories featuring hobbit actor pairings or hobbit actors. All story ratings are welcome, from G to NC-17, and stories may be 'canon', AU or crackfic (please see the Rules for further details).

The community does not accept stories which involve interspecies, 'hobbit piles', hobbit actor 'piles', or het pairings (except where the latter are present in canon and then only in a secondary role).

Membership is restricted to adults 18 or over.

I'll be posting my response to the latest waymeet challenge in a week or so! And speaking of that, the current challenge is:

Waymeet Challenge: My Baby Just Wrote Me a Letter

By no means all Hobbits were lettered, but those who were wrote constantly to all their friends (and a selection of their relations) who lived further off than an afternoon's walk.

For this challenge, the title of which is self-explanatory, we asked each volunteer to write a story in the form of a letter or e-mail, a series of letters, e-mails or text messages, or to write about a letter or e-mail.

Stories will be posted from 26 February to 12 March (or later), so stay tuned.

You could not go wrong joining up with this wonderful group of Hobbit loving folks.
