You know one of the reasons I find their family so moving is that it is created. Frodo is, in fact, adopted and loved on his own merrits. Two relative odd balls in the Shire come together and love and help each other. They form a family....

It's probably odd for a really strong emotional reaction to an icon but... I kind of teared up when I saw it.

I'm really looking forward to the TORn party this weekend. It's a highlight of my year.

Where is the Torn party being held?

Bless Frodo's heart.. to lose his parents that way? And there were even nasty rumors about the manner of their deaths. I'm sure as a little boy he heard them and was hurt by them. Then Bilbo takes him in and loves him unconditionally. It's an inspiration to all of us about what 'family' really is and means.

In Grifith Park, by the famous old carousel.

I believe the TORn party has been held every year in the same spot since the 60's. That's a strong tradition. It's been around longer than a lot of things in this world.
