Sam Rockwell

This guy has turned up in a whole bunch of movies I've seen recently.

You (basically Andrew and Weija, who know this page exists) probably know him as Zaphod Beeblebrox (just zis guy, you know) from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He wasn't at the Dublin premiere. I met Bill Nighy though. But anyway, I haven't seen that in years and it's not as good as the books.

He was basically the only actor in Moon (aside from Kevin Spacey's voice in a robot), which was pretty good. You're watching it and think you're all clever because you suspect he might be a clone, and then they confirm about twenty minutes in that yeah, he's a clone, but also other things happen.

Then a couple of days ago I watched The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, where Rockwell plays Charley Ford, the one who doesn't assassinate anyone but does jump out a window in one scene and comes kind of close to assassinating himself. Rockwell is really good in this (everyone is, really) playing a kind of pathetic, background sidekick character. Robert Ford is played by Casey Affleck, whom I recently saw beat Jessica Alba to death.

In a movie.

Then Rockewell was one of the main bad guys in Iron Man 2, a rival scientist to Tony Stark who (sentence removed, because I now realise what I wrote was actually a storyline from Caprica and has nothing to do with Iron Man. Do I really remember what happened in IM2? Let's see, as I try to finish the sentence after the closing parentheses) hires Mickey Rourke to build an Iron Man suit and also cause mayhem from time to time. His character name is Justin Hammer, and at no point does he refer to "hammer time".

Choke was a while ago, so I guess it doesn't count in this little spate of appearances, and it wasn't that great. He plays a sex addict who turns out to be a descendant of Jesus, and then not, and since it's by Chuck Palahniuk (had to check if I spelled that right), it ends with him shitting his pants in a police interrogation room. Spoiler alert, I guess.

And imdb also informs me that he played "head thug" in the live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, which I'm pretty sure I saw in the cinema when I was 6.

Anyway, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind happens to be on TV now, and has featured Sam Rockwell's naked ass prominently. If you're into that kind of thing. I think the universe is trying to tell me that I'm into that kind of thing.

movies, sam rockwell
