3rd icon tutorial. (2nd today!) Bill Kaulitz tutorial (no selective coloring~!) [Tutorial #o2]

Nov 20, 2007 08:03

2nd tutorial today, 3rd tutorial in all. This icon was requested by the oh so lovely trickstars (XD Who's first impression was "OH NO! IS THIS SELECTIVE COLORING!?" [it's not]). I worked this for her using the features in her program, which is Photoshop Elements 5.0. It uses levels so it may be translated, just not by me.

(So this time I had my Elements and PSP lovelies in mind~♥. Can levels be done in PSP? o.O)

Icon tutorial features Bill Kaulitz of the German band Tokio Hotel...and a sexy mofo at that.

Duplicate your base and set it to screen. I lowered my opacity to 50%

Alright. @.@ Now something that I have trouble with, but somehow got something good out of, so I will probably be vague...got to the Layers menu, go to New Adjustment Layer and choose Levels.

In the levels layer, the RGB levels should look like this:

Input levels: 0, 1.00, 255
Output levels:0, 255

Click ont he drop down menu and choose Red. They should look like this:

Input levels: 0, 0.48, 206
Output Levels: 1, 255

Go to the drop down menu again and choose Green. They should be:

Input levels: 0, 1.00, 255
Output levels: 18, 225

Lastly, go to the drop down menu and choose Blue. It should be:

Input levels: 0, 0.60, 255
Output levels: 23. 255

Now you're done with the levels! 2 more steps!

Create a new fill layer and fill it with #fa8dff at Soft Light and change the opacity to 50%.

Create another fill layer and fill it with #8bdbff at Color Burn (or Burn for non-photoshop-ers) and lower the opacity to 58%.

And there you have! (I seriously had no idea of what to add to this, text and textures wise. Ge creative with that!) I encourage you to change it up a bit, this is just a guide. I'd love to see what you made!

(NOTE: You may not use this icon that was used in this tutorial as a userpic. It will be in my next icon batch!)
