Japan: postponed -- my status message four days ago. Rita-chan and I met up in McDo Katips to "study," but instead talked about this very big realization of mine. With the help of a friend, I was supposed to leave for Tokyo this August to study/teach. When I first received the news, I was so excited that I told everyone that matters to me about it. That news came last February, by the way. Unknown to family and friends, though, I have actually been feeling scared. The time between receiving the news and leaving for Tokyo is just too short; I am not ready financially, physically, and in all other aspects.
So that's what we talked about amid the buzz made by the pre-yuppie Katipunan crowd in McDonald's.
For those who are studying Nihongo, ni, as we all know, is attached to a word or phrase to describe the main purpose, or the endpoint, of an action. Japan will always be my ni, then. It's like, as Rita-chan puts it, "After we reach Japan, what's next?"
Before I wrote this, I waited for my friend's reply from Tokyo. Congratulations, she said, for making a very wise decision. It may look like I have passed up a very juicy opportunity, but it's not so bad from where I stand. I'll get to tour more beautiful areas in The Philippines, learn to drive, have more time with family and friends, become a real teacher; all while getting myself ready.
Yosh! Ganbarimashou! ^^
