Elune, Living, Classes... rakishan August 10 2005, 14:43:56 UTC
Yeah, ironically, we chose this server, because a guy in our circle of friends had his own circle of friends and a guy in that circle of friends wanted to join the guild Afterlife. So he powered his way through the levels and joined. I'm not sure if they even play together anymore. *shrug* There's always meeting up on a few of the Horde servers we're playing on. It'll be tough to get Asher to give up his Night Elf chicks, though.

I'm sure he knows you should be in his house. Even if Jason's not out, you could couch surf there for a bit. Asher could use the socialization. Don't forget to yell at him for not buying all of his class abilities or keeping stocked on his class reagents. ;^)

Between Drawing and Japanese I was leaning towards Japanese. I don't expect to pass the course, but I do like getting immersed in the language every now and then. The discussions about why things mean what they mean, and why you can't say certain things are always fun. I have some books on drawing, I just don't draw enough. The promise I made to myself to write or draw for an hour a night has fallen through.

I love language classes as well. So it sounds like a win-win situation to me.

My fear about moving in to asher's is that I have a cat. She is in fact, an Agent of Chaos. I'm not sure asher needs that in his house. o.O On the other hand, it might do him good to introduce some chaos in his life. Plus it'd be easy for me to continue kicking his butt at Zelda. :D I figure I'll practically live there ANYWAY, right?

Plus, if I talk Asher into getting his own cat, I can blame his cat for all the craziness, and my cat won't get lonely. At some point, I'll actually let Asher in on the plans I have made for him.

As for Elune, we actually play alliance. I have hordies on a bunch of other servers though. What server are you guys on?

Oh yah, and as for drawing, I've been doing it for years and years, taken lots of classes, but I still learned a TON in the class I took. I think it was a combination of actually practicing as well as a chance to try a bunch of different techniques that I wouldn't have the motivation to do myself. Of course, I've barely drawn anything since, so there you go. I wonder if I'll have time between grad classes to take more drawing classes. That would rock.

Or Japanese. I went there for two weeks and all I remember how to say is "Domo aragato, mr. roboto" which doesn't say much for my language retaining powers.

I can see that having you in town is going to be great, even if you're not "living" at Asher's. It would be convenient if you were, though. You'd always have your cat with you there.

Dear god woman, don't tell him about the plans! It's so much better to watch him flip out gradually. Keep them all as a surprise, each one a little treasure to enjoy in it's own time.

So far, my one experience with learning Japanese was taking it at UCSC. The first day, people in the class were taking notes in Kanji and talking about their year abroad in Japan. Half of them didn't pass, let alone the rest of us. I'm thinking something geared more to the non-Japanese speaker will be easier to learn from.

Hmm... of course, then there's the use thing. I can always use drawing, but most everything Japanese that I do is subtitled. *shrug* I hope I figure it out soon. Registration is coming up fast.

I'll flip a coin for you. ;)

Good point about telling Asher. He'll just wake up some day to another cat. I'll tell him "Oh, wow asher! I didn't know you were getting another cat. Great idea! What's his name?" And see if he can figure it out.

I have a couple other options for housing, but honestly I'd really like to hang out at asher's, if for no other reason than I can't stay mad at him for more than about 5 minutes, so it should be pretty chill to hang there. Plus he plays WoW, so if he doesn't see me for 7 days straight, he knows to just check online and see if I'm in IF hawking my l33t w4r3z. And he keeps his place relatively clean. I really despise picking up other people's crap, and I like things clean.

I'm kinda married to my cat. She's chaos embodied, and she's completely untrained, (I adopted her, she came with her penchant for jumping on the counters and drinking water out of glasses, honestly) and I love her to pieces.

Oh! I forgot to mention, the best part about CC classes is they tend to be a tad slower-paced. For some classes this is infuriating, but for a language class I could see it being a godsend. Plus we need a friend who speaks Japanese so when we watch anime with them, they can laugh at things that we don't get and make us feel all loser-ific. And then they can haughtily tell us that the joke doesn't make sense in English.

Every group needs a friend like this!

Hanging out at Asher's is great. We've talked him into having WoW parties at his place three times now. Each time has been a lot of fun. There's been separate reasons to have characters on Zul'Jin, Bleeding Hollow, and lately, Ner'Zhul. (Forget the first one, for the second one you need to learn a new language called Tooskatak and can only be a troll, and the third one is totally overpopulated. *shrug*)

I don't know how I lived before I had my cat. Wait, yes I do, I could put things onto my shelves. (He'll look at you, and then bat something off of a table or shelf, still looking at you. That's what you call spite.) Some other winning traits are that he climbs people. He bites you if you pet him. He bites you if you don't pet him. He's quite the wonderful fellow.

Wait! The friend who laughs and then explains that the joke doesn't translate? Acting haughty and superior? OMG, I'm so that friend! I was doing that back when I failed out of my other Japanese class. It was great.

Damn, now you HAVE to take that class! You already have practice at it!!

HAhahaha your cat sounds awesome! I've always loved pets, and have grown up around cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens, ducks, etc. Kita (short for Nikita hehehe) is my first grown up cat though. I've dated guys who have had cats, but Kita is mine. I adopted her from a no-kill adoption site, and we insta-bonded. She does that too, btw. She'll sit on the desk and knock stuff off. She talks back (she often meows when you say her name...this is quite the fun game.) and she will bite too. I really wish she didn't bite, but the vet said it was too late to curb her of that, and that was something she came with. She will also lay on my chest and lick my face and purr madly while I sit at the computer, and she sleeps under the covers next to me when it's cold. And when I'm sad she almost always knows and will find me and butt her head against mine and touch my nose with hers and start purring.

She also loves mint gum. To the point where she will try to cause me bodily harm to get it out of my mouth and into hers. She likes the smell of alcohol and will forcibly shove her face into yours if you've been drinking. she's highly social but gets wound up when lotsa people are aorund and will be more prone to biting. :( And I love her soooo much. :D

Bleeding Hollow sounds like a winning place for me. Trolls are my favorite horde race. "Yah Mon!" Which server do you guys end up playing on more?

If you're ever on Elune, I'm usually on Flonne or Kriss. I have 8 other alts (and 3 60s) but I won't list them all here. ;)

There's a long story to my cat. I'll have to tell you about him sometime.

He knows when I'm sad or that the emotion level's high. When that happens, he tries to comfort me by head butting and biting me. He's 7, so there's no fixing him of the biting now, either. He tends to flip out when around strangers or strange cats. (As much as he would play with anyone and anything when he was younger.)

He likes to lick plaster, nylon, and plastic.

Two of the guys in our circle are part of the "Troll" guild, Tooskatribe there. I've got a link to them somewhere... http://www.tooskatribe.com/ Warning: "Yah Mon!" will not cut it for them.

For now, if you want to actually run into people in our circle, you'll need to be on Cenarius or Ner'Zhul. Mostly Cenarius.

I've been told that cat biting can be a sign of affection. Kita tries to bite my chin sometimes when she's really happy and rubbing against my face.

Does your cat like to scratch on smooth surfaces too? Not like dig in scratch but turbo-scratch? Like sit on books and go to town rubbing paws along the front cover?

I do like trolls, but I don't really want to roleplay with a bunch of them. Actually, that would be fun occasionally, but wouldn't be my main form of entertainment. I am usually a bit self-conscious when I role-play and so I don't find it that relaxing. :/ I do ENJOY it, though, so maybe if I just did it more I'd get over the self-conscious thing?

Anyway, who are you guys on Cenarius? I'll roll up a char and come say hi. :) I assume you all are on horde?
