Happy St. Lucia day! Ooh, what fun I have had. And it is only 10:30 in the morning. Last night I baked
lussekatter with the help of roommates, (and pulled double duty while rolling them out--I taught
lollyjoy how to sing "Nu är det jul igen!"), and this morning we got up at 5:30 to eat them and drink coffee. I brought a whole ton (or 26) of the lussekatter to my office, and brought Lucia joy to my students and the first-year students and several random faculty members. I even got my students to sing the Lucia song with me. Then we did Christmas and Lucia madlibs, and hilarity ensued. (The best bit was the song titles: instead of "Now it's Christmas again," which is what "Nu är det jul igen" means, we got "Now it's 12:30 again." Ha ha ha. And instead of "O Holy Night"..."O Holy Computer Game." Hee.
Sadly, much of the rest of the day will pale in comparison to the be-caffeined and be-baked-goodsed morning, for I must turn my attention to studying for my linguistics exam tomorrow. But I can still look forward to lunch (pasties from the Nutrition dept. bakesale) and a free burrito (at Chipotle, home of there's-always-some-way-to-get-a-free-burrito)!
