Ooh, I totally understand the shoe fetish/love of shoes! To that end I like both pairs of shoes. But let me break it down why and give you a more detailed description of the shoes.
Sexy: Pro's - they are sexy, young, and fun. They are also in style right now. Relative comfort. Con's - open toe means no wearing nylons. They are in style right now (which means they will be out of style eventually). A strap across the ankle can "cut off your feet" and make you look short (where as a non-ankle strap makes your legs look longer).
Classy: Pro's - versitile use (they can be professional, casual, dressy). No ankle strap, so legs look longer and skinnier. Can wear nylons/tights with them. Con's - uncomfortable, might look too "grown up". Satin can get ruined really easily, especially if something is spilled or it's wet out.
That being said, I say go with comfort. That's the the way I tend to go. Enjoy your reunion. Mine was in a bar in a part of town that I wouldn't go to during the day, let alone at night. And in MI, and since I'm in CA, I didn't go. Plus, I didn't really have any desire to see any of my old high school classmates.
