So with my RP idea I had a thought for a stable of regular things to do in logs, for those who get stuck but want a log with whoever doing whatever.
Part of the system is that characters are treated as more important if they are Gifted. Gifted is basically anyone with powers better than your average human. They come in two flavors, those with super special awesome skills from their home 'verse. And 'True Gifted' who woke up with powers when they ended up in the spooky jamjar. Technically if you have supercool powers from your home 'verse you aren't an actual gifted but that's a very fine difference most people don't care about if you can kill a sabertooth-lionbear.
So that means the 'government' (really its a really charismatic guy who has taken to organizing and happens to be really good at it) in charge of After Baltimore will kindly ask you to help, as you live in town too. There are several things that need to be done around town on a fairly regular basis. Some of which involves being out of town (if you do a big mission out of town without a log its what we call a hiatus, donchaknow). In the After Maryland hinterlands there are farms, beyond that there is trade with other settlements around the country which involve travel to/from these places. There are of course also monsters, bandits, thieves, brigands, and pirates out there all aiming for their share of STUFF since STUFF is not plentiful.
Now while this does involve rescue and escort missions a lot, most days nothing at all happens out there so you can just CR build doing stuff. Of course if you wanna kick bandit butt with the help of some new friends, that is good too. And there's freedom to do stuff around town and more mundane jobs in the city (and out of the city, too). Does this seem like I can make that system work?
It also means plot point events can go on either:
- In After Baltimore while characters not involved are on missions elsewhere (leaving town low on manpower).
- Out of After Baltimore while characters not involved are on missions elsewhere or in town, unable to know stuff has gone down?
And, for those that find this RP talk boring, a meme due to Brandon:
The last character you defeated in a video game is here to help you in the zombie apocalypse, and they have your favorite pokemon with them! Oh, and you can use the object to your left to help you.
"You really should learn to share, you know that," I was taking zombie parts off surprisingly well with my two wooden swords. Probably helped that I only went for joints at let my partners here do all the heavy lifting, "You have like 8 hundred weapons on you!"
"You seem to be doing fine, besides, your hands are full," Firion offered with far too much cheer as he juggled through weapons taking zombies apart by the dozen. An axe flying like a boomerang to give him room to work his lance, his bootknife sliced through the air like a paper airplane. The few magic spells he cast didn't hurt. This said nothing for the help he brought, and the damage it was doing on its own. Red steel moved through the sea of undead like there was nothing in his path, scissor like pincers cutting and dismantling what got into the path of the large metal bug. Scizor was not to be stopped or slowed easily.
"You aren't even using your sword!" I shoot back with astonishment as to his thinking, "You do not need the thing right now, lemme borrow it so I have something with actual weight besides these two toys!" Firion pretended to not hear me, or maybe it was more correct to say he drowned out my words with the crack of thunder. "Use more ice, are you trying to start their hearts or something!"
Firion had no idea how to actually fight zombies it seemed.
