Time for another weekly update...

First things first, the A key on my laptop is being fritzy as of late, so I apologize for any missing a's in this post.  It's really annoying.  I think there may be a crumb or something underneath it interfering with its proper function, but alas, I have no compressed air and I'm kind of afraid to pop it off just in case I can't get it back on again.  It seems to be working fairly well for the moment though, so that's encouraging.

It was another fairly uneventful week, overall.  Monday we went over to P&R's house for more gardening fun.  This time we actually planted seeds - onions, swiss chard, lettuce, tomatoes, and an entire herb garden in pots - basil, parsley, rosemary, thyme, and oregano.  Well, okay, we might have missed a few, but those are the main ones anyway; none of us are huge cilantro fans.  Though I have no idea what recipes I will use thyme for in my cooking.  Anyway, that was fun, even though it is very likely when I began incubating my cold due to the close proximity with a number of children who already had it.  But hey, the garden has been started!

Tuesday was, of course, writing Tuesday, meaning our writing group comes over all day and writes (theoretically).  I believe there was also some movie-watching that went on in the evening.  I may have to take precautions next week to ensure more writing gets done... I'm running low on reading material. :)

Wednesday I made garden chowder for dinner and cut my other finger, this time on a can of chicken.  I also made... rolls... wait a minute, I think I'm getting my days mixed up.  I definitely made rolls on Tuesday.  and I made garden chowder the same night as the rolls.... ugh, well, at least this all happened sometime this week.

I know for SURE that I started feeling sick Wednesday night, but decided to go to work anyway on Thursday.  Thursday I had a nasty horrible sore throat all day that led to me drinking about 4 times as much water as usual.  It suddenly got much better that evening, about 24 hours after it began, but then I got a constant production of mucus instead... along with the residual sore throat, which led to me deciding NOT to go to work on Friday because I would be totally grossed out if I were talking to someone at a call center and they had to keep putting me on mute to blow their nose, sneeze, or cough.  Plus I don't want to contaminate my entire team.  I did have quite the debate about whether or not I should go, because I never really know where the line is at which you should self-quarantine yourself when you are sick, but I ultimately decided I'd rather be bored and sick and tired at home than completely miserable at work.  I still feel a tiny bit guilty though, because it was probably horribly busy and not fun there yesterday.  However, this is my first sick day since I was hired 10 and a half months ago, so...

Anyway, today I'm feeling a bit better; still not 100% but now it's mostly just congestion.  I know you all love reading about the blow by blow of my cold (pun intended)!

Other things of note this week: I finished Scion of Cyador, which our neighbor and friend lent to me about... 6 months ago?  Maybe more... It took me a long time to read the first one, and then this one (the sequel) went much faster.  I also cooked dinner, real dinner, at least TWICE!  I made pizza last night, which pretty much took my entire day's worth of energy, and then the garden chowder at some earlier point.  I seldom make pizza because it took me THREE and a HALF HOURS.  But it tastes delicious and we have a ton of leftovers, so that's always good.  It mostly takes so long because a) my Bosch does better making the dough if I double the recipe, b) if I double the recipe it makes 4 pizzas, and c) I only have one oven to cook said pizzas, meaning a solid hour of those three is just cooking them all.  Oh, and d) I don't have enough counter space.  For the record, one hour was spent waiting for the dough to rise, which is not terribly stressful, but still, it is one of those meals I love but usually don't have the time/energy for.  It will probably be better in our new apartment when we move because I'll have more room.

Speaking of food... one of these days I will attempt sourdough bread, and rye bread... and I also need to make strawberry freezer jam sometime.  So. Delicious.
