So, when our apartment complex switched our AC to heating at the beginning of last winter, they left a little warning/notification on our door to tell us. Naturally, we expected the same when they switched it back. So we've been sweltering for all of April and half of May, wondering what the deal is and why we have such crappy management who are too lazy to turn our AC on so we can actually SURVIVE spring comfortably.
Monday night, we finally couldn't take it anymore. I reached my limit when I couldn't decide whether opening the windows or wearing next to nothing would help more, and doing both was not exactly socially acceptable. So we figured since it couldn't get much worse, we'd turn on the thermostat and see what happened.
Who knows how long it has been on cooling instead of heating. Because it was definitely more bearable in our apartment within 10 minutes. Argh... And to think we've been suffering and opening all windows from 5 pm to 8 am every day for the last month... even when the breezes smell like skunk...
The only perk is that our gas bill was lower than our electric bill last month. Unheard of. Seriously.
And of course we discovered it the day before I went out of town. To visit Boston, which got cold and rainy especially for me. Don't worry, I'm still enjoying it anyway. :)
Yesterday we went to downtown Boston for dinner and cannolis (which were delicious Italian pastries). Today we visited Lexington and Concord, saw the Old North Bridge, and wandered around Sleepy Hollow Cemetary (where we saw several famous authors' graves, including Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Ralph Waldo Emerson), followed by a long stint (like, 4 hours) at the Boston temple. It was very nice. Pictures to come, maybe when I get home...
On the plan for tomorrow is driving down to Newport, RI and touring a mansion on the coast, going on a cliffwalk if it's not too cold, and possibly visiting the outlet malls on the way back. I am way excited. :)
I definitely miss rhb, but I'm having fun with my sister. And let me tell you, it is not nearly as bad as last summer... I just have to keep reminding myself that. XD
