Sigh. I never remember all my great stories until after the nightly webcam session. And I have such good ones today, too.
So I decided to go to the library today. (Well, actually I decided this yesterday, but I actually went today.) I even had a car available for me to drive, unlike the last two times I tried to go somewhere (the first time I didn't have the car key, and the second time I didn't have the car). So I was good to go. I wanted to go to the big library on Central though, not the wimpy one closer to my house, because they have much better selection, so I determined that I would go down Northern to Central, then down Central to the library. Easy enough.
Off I went. After 7th Ave, I got in the proper lane to turn right. Then a really good song came on the radio and I started singing along. Out of the corner of my eye I saw "Central" flash by on a street sign and realized that in an act of sheer brilliance, I had forgotten to turn. Luckily there was a handy parking lot to turn around in right away.
In retrospect, I probably should have kept on going and taken 7th St instead of Central. I realized this after driving on Central for about 5 miles, straight into a heap of construction. This street has been under construction for like, the past 2 years. And yet every time I go to the library I go on Central. You'd think I would learn... The worst part was, I couldn't even turn into the library from there because it was blocked off... stupid light rail messing up downtown.
Anyway, I eventually made it after 2 U turns and a lot of bumpy road and confusing half-lanes along the way. Yay! And I got lots of good sci fi books and country music.
On the way home I determined to go a different route. One that didn't involve construction. So I took 3rd St instead. However, I was not aware that 3rd St doesn't go all the way back to Northern... there's a big park in the way. And of course I didn't see the "No Outlet" sign until it was too late, so I had to make yet another U turn along the road entrance to said park... *sigh* Cut me a little slack, it's the first time I've driven a significant (read: longer than a mile) distance since like, last summer.
Anyway, enough driving stories to boost your own self esteem...
I had a job interview today at a pharmacy a couple miles from my house. I think they want to hire me. It sounds like a good opportunity - the pay is good, and I'd be mostly just filling prescriptions (not so much working with customers). But it's only part time (30 hrs/wk) and I'd be working evenings and Saturdays. (Good thing I don't plan on having a social life here anyway.) I have to go in for a drug test tomorrow and then we'll see what happens.
I also have another interview tomorrow morning with CVS. Who knows, maybe they will offer me an even better job! (Or maybe they'll want me to work mornings, then I could get lots of hours and make lots of money and get lots of experience!)
It's nice to finally have things go the way I think they ought to... even if it means this summer will last an eternity because I won't get to move back to Provo until August (because if I didn't get a good job here, I totally would move back for Summer term).
