Note to self: it is a BAD IDEA to stay up until 3:30 when you have 9am church. And it's the first Sunday in your new ward. And it's Fast Sunday. Less than 4 hours of sleep + no breakfast + 147 stairs = not a successful First Impressions Sunday. I was not in a talkative, meet people kind of mood. So... actually, I think I learned some names. But I don't know if anyone learned mine. *shrug* One four-hour nap and a meal later, I felt much much much much better. This whole early church thing is going to take some readjusting, but at least I get to take Sunday naps again. (Don't get me wrong, it seems like a good ward, I just wasn't quite able to fully appreciate it.)
As for the stairs... there are 147 going up between my apartment and campus. Not including the half flight to get to the parking lot from my door.
Why couldn't they just make it 150 even and be done with it?
And why is it that no matter how many times I move, I am always in a ward with more girls than guys, and right next to a ward with the opposite problem? You'd think there was a 50-50 shot...
And now for the bright side of things: it would seem my ward is very punctual. I was 5 minutes late to Ward Prayer and got there just in time for the prayer part. Apparently they don't start 15 minutes late and have a song/spiritual thought/announcements for another 15 minutes. They just pray and then stand around (outside) and talk. Weird. I don't know how I will feel about this when it's winter. Well, the brevity will be nice, but not having it outside.
Now for the real bright side... it rained this afternoon and there was a rainbow! Yay! It made me happy. :) And I played Bohnanza this evening and won. That also made me happy. :)
The view from my landing
Maybe I could be persuaded to find rainbows romantic. They're a little more special than just clouds.
