No more red doors, heck get the windows barred
Shun the sun; the world needs to be charred
Summer-clad women don't bother me no more
My head is heavy and there's no light in store.

Sombre colours rush past me on mean streets
Wildbirds fly wordless by, nobody who greets
Strangers pretend to not notice my clear pain
The world's water is breaking under the strain.

Introspection fails to bring forth any cheer
This isn't a scarlet season, the black are here
Escape is an illusion I'm constantly craving
Maybe just a too-deep nick while shaving?

Forget water and marbled colours of sea
Who knew that you could do this to me

Staring delusionally right into the loud yellow light
I will have company and memories of that night

No more red doors, heck get the windows barred
Shun the sun; the world needs to be charred
Summer-clad women don't bother me no more
My head is heavy and there's no light in store.

You know it's been painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
The sun has been blotted out from the sky
I can just see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah!
