well, to be fair half of it is just DVDs and pages, isn't it?
:) But yeah, life's busy. And, resultantly, exhausting and sleepless.

A most interesting weekend indeed- a movie and a musical, all in one weekend?!

Pearls, Girls is certainly a classic.

I had half a mind to pick up Vol. 3 of the Jeeves omnibus at Landmark on Saturday. Searched in vain for a Psmith omnibus. Regretted not bringing Hot Water (which is the PGW I reread the most) with me to Chennai.

a movie and a musical
well, it's one thing to come up with silly ideas, another to see them through the germination..

My most reread ones are Something Fresh and Summer Lightning.

First, I adore such posts.
Second, your life sounds (reads?) real exciting.
Third, my weekend:

Watched Before Sunset again.
Watched Chasing Liberty twice, back-to-back.
Shopped for a sari that I am gonna wear to my best friend's wedding.
Drooled over buy-able books at the bookstore.
Listened to a movie buff describe the brilliance of Shaun of the Dead.
Finished reading Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni's Vine of Desire.
Read a very exciting three issue run of Transmetropolitan.

now that's the kinda reply that makes a post like this work.

hmmmm. Do I know the buff in question? Or has he converted more tribesmen?
I've never watched Chasing Liberty, actually.
When is the wedding?
And I've made up my mind to read one of that Divakaruni lady's books - suggest a good starter.

Of course, you know the buff in question. =)

Chasing Liberty is a rom com! The fact that it stars Mandy Moore, puts many off. But it is a delighful movie.

It's a Bengali wedding and I am gonna don an ehtenic chanderi cotton sari in the Bengali style. It's in July. Yes, it is a little too early.

Now on to the real topic - this Divakaruni woman writes really heavy stuff; I call her books a whirlpool of emotions. Therefore, a good place to start is her short story collection - Arranged Marriage.

PS: Sorry for spamming your inbox with deleted comments. I hate typos but can't help making them.

thanks for the recommendation.

and Bangla weddings are good fun. Your friend is the bride, I'm assuming? In which case I suggest you pop over and observe the elaborate totto preparations.

you'd personally love them, Nemo-fan.

Other than the part about filmmakers, had a movie/F1/Strawberry pie type weekend.

Do you know of this Taiwanese director, Tsai Ming Liang...I've seen a couple of his movies and they're fantastic. So I've now borrowed all his stuff from the city library and am unashamedly ripping every single one. It's a pity that in India we can find any Hollywood movie (pirated, of course) but nothing from the filmmakers to our East.

DVD rips in the last 10 days:
Irma Vep
3 Liang films
The Office, both seasons
Happy Together (wong kar wai)
Infernal Affairs
(And finally) Dr.Strangelove

my friend, I very much doubt it.
it's incredibly inflammatory, and the court won't (can't, really, I must say) allow it to be released till there's an actual verdict.
then again, there never will be an actual verdict, so...

*sigh*
