[Everyone needed to unwind sometimes, and Asbel was no different. Leaving a note behind at the house saying that he and ledbythewind were "going out tonight", the duo set off to the bar. Because what better way to unwind than by knocking back a drink? Or ten? It was the perfect way to relax, after everything's that's been happening in Luceti recently ( Read more... )

[Richard and Asbel were going out tonight. Hubert isn't fully convinced that this is a good idea.

Suspicions and the general desire to do something take him to various places around the village, where he eventually winds up in Good Spirits. Spotting the two men (in a bar, gracious), he approaches.]

Drinking, Brother? [He then directs his gazeat Richard, as a way of greeting.] Your Highness.

[OH CRAP, HUBERT. Okay, just act natural, Asbel. No problem. You're good at that.

...Okay maybe not, but you've got nothing to hide.]

Yeah, we are.

Hubert.

[Richard has clearly had a few drinks already, as he's forgotten that he and Hubert are from different time periods and thus has no problems with dropping the "Sir."]

Would you like to join us? There's an empty seat on Asbel's other side.

[Hm. Gaze fixed on Richard, he simply replies,]

No, thank you.

[He could have provided an excuse, but he thinks it unnecessary when Richard seems to have already had a drink or two. Hubert turns back to Asbel, his voice just above a whisper.]

I trust you'll keep this from getting out of hand . . .

Erm... Sure? [He's not sure what Hubert's referring to, though.]

[Think fast, Hubert, because Richard is already sliding a tequila shot in your direction (after taking another one himself).]

[Ugh, Richard, he said no -- ]

Don't drink too much.

[And with those last words for his brother, he takes the shot and slides it further down to Asbel. Sorry. He can't return it to Richard and Asbel is already drinking, anyway. Then he straightens and turns around partway.]

As it's the two of yours night out, I will take my leave.

[You're such a bore, Hubert. ): But Asbel understands, at least.

...For once.]

[... except that unfortunately for Hubert, Richard will be reaching out to grab his sleeve, still grinning. What, you thought he'd let you leave that easily?]

[Why had he thought coming to find them was a good idea? Wordlessly, he comes to an abrupt stop and looks over his shoulder at the hand grabbing his sleeve.

He should have run for it when he had the chance.]

[There is a look of pity on Asbel's face, Hubert. But this is what you get for being nosy.]

Surely you can join us for just one drink.

[And he'll be trying to steer Hubert to a chair now, that grip not letting up at all.]

[Fine. Fine, he follows the grip and takes a seat, albeit not with a happy look. The situations he finds himself in . . .]

Just one . . .

He said "just one," didn't he?

[It's not that he wants to, but has to. He shoots Asbel a look that indicates as much, which is just a frown telling Asbel to shut up.]

It isn't as though I have a choice in the matter.

[Besides running away all undignified and he isn't doing that.]
