According to Pizza.net, pepperoni is America's favorite pizza topping, accounting for 36 percent of all pizza orders. Soon, pepperoni will be America's favorite pretzel topping as well, adding to the 251,770,000 pounds of pepperoni already consumed in the United States each year. Auntie Anne's locations across the country will be adding the Pepperoni Pretzel to their menu on April 6. This limited-time offering features an Auntie Anne's hand-rolled, freshly-baked soft pretzel topped with pepperoni slices, covered in a savory three cheese blend, and then baked to golden brown perfection.
In response to overwhelming consumer demand, Auntie Anne's began testing the Pepperoni Pretzel in 20 franchised stores in November 2008. The Pepperoni Pretzel will be available nationwide through the end of 2009. As with other Auntie Anne's pretzel flavors, the Pepperoni Pretzel carries a Perfect Guarantee; if a customer does not love his or her pretzel, Auntie Anne's will replace it with one he or she does love.
"The combination of our signature soft pretzel taste paired with the popular pepperoni and cheese blend combination gives consumers another reason to visit Auntie Anne's while shopping or traveling," says Carl Hornberger, Director of Menu Management for Auntie Anne's, Inc.
The average retail price for the Pepperoni Pretzel is $3.13 and varies at each location. Store locations will invite customers to purchase a marinara dip to complement the new Pepperoni Pretzel flavor. Customers that sign-up for Auntie Anne's Twisted News monthly e-mail program will receive a coupon for the Pepperoni Pretzel in both April and May.
