I dreamed that I was working for President Josiah Bartlet. I don't know in what capacity. I was not Secret Service, but I did feel partially responsible for his protection.
I needed to give him a document to sign. He was in his armored car, and I was standing in a very non-secure area - a parking lot. Always a man of the people and wanting to get things done the simple way, he had the driver pull over and rolled down the window. He gave a friendly nod and asked me to just give it to him to sign quickly. I reached toward the car with the paper, but I dropped it just short of the window. He rolled his eyes, and I suddenly felt creeping dread. I leaned down to find the paper that had gone under the car, but I was having trouble reaching it. His window was still down. I looked across the parking lot and spotted a gunman standing behind some bushes. It was too late. The gun fired, and I turned to see Josiah Bartlet's head explode. I woke up.
I was on some sort of epic hiking trek. I don't remember who else was there, but there were many people going on this same hike. After a very long stretch of relatively easily traversal, I crossed a road to begin the steep ascent. The area was wooded, and the ground consisted of many small pebbles. My legs hurt. Then I noticed that the incline was covered with rattlesnakes. I tried to avoid them completely, but my feet sank in the gravel, and they slithered near me. Snake after snake struck at me, and I was able to barely avoid them as I continued the climb. I kicked gravel on one to cover it, but he kept wriggling free. He was going to bite me this time. I woke up.
