Dreamt about being a vampire hunter. Either I was the apprentice or the old man was my apprentice. My companion was old, bald, and carved from wood (metaphorically). Shame he was a bit absent-minded. We had been chasing some guy in a brown leather jacket, short beard, and "Hollywood" long hair and his old lady companion. During the chase there was a pervasive sense of doubt over their paranormal natures. Could we be mistaken? After all, our methods of dispatching vampires could easily dispatch a regular human being.
Eventually we caught up with the pair in a gorge full of boulders and a river cutting through the middle. The cliffs and slopes were covered in pine trees. A bit like what I'd imagine to be the Pacific northwest. I dug out two stakes, which were the legs of a couch which weren't entirely blunt, while my companion pulled out two saws without handles. These fuckers were sharp and whippy, making me concerned to wield them. Even in my hand I could feel their potency. Our successfully quarry argued their case, and we let them go.
The old lady stayed behind while the guy left. We followed him and to our astonishment, he began catching fire walking away from us. Fuck, he hoodwinked us. Even though he was burning, we knew he was going to get away rather than die in the sunshine.
He got away.
So did the old lady.
Later on, we were contacted by our dispatcher/boss and given dimes. To prevent ourselves from becoming vampires, we had to swallow the dimes like pills. Let me tell you something, swallowing a dime is not easy. What's weird about the dream is I could feel the dime going down my throat, through my esophagus, then getting stuck/caught against the sphincter muscle into my stomach. I had to drink lots of water, and eat some food, to push it through.
What little I remember from the rest of the dream, I was standing at the top of the stairs in the old New Jersey house before I moved to Colorado looking in the living room and at the windows. Rather than the small neighborhood, I saw a wonderful sunset and felt a sense of joy and contentment. Also my brain seemed to be stuck on the "swallow a dime" schtick, and other people were forced to swallow a dime and a penny rather than just a dime.
Fortunately I avoided that nonsense.
