I follow
@MartianSoil on Twitter. They have great links related to Mars, especially today. They're holding
an Earth or Mars challenge and the winner receives a package of martian regolith simulant. It's the same stuff used by NASA to try out stuff on Mars without leaving home. After retweeting and favoriting the post, I took part and correctly guessed today's image was Earth, not Mars.
The Atacama desert certainly resembles Mars, doesn't it?
I won.
Holy shit.
Maybe I won because I was the first one to participate. Either way, I won!
Even before I learned that I won, I looked at their shop and found they are selling
a martian garden. When I have enough scratch, I'm gonna get myself one and give it a whirl. It'll make for a great presentation at my astronomy club. Shame they don't accept Paypal because I'd snap one up tout de suite.
Driving home from my part-time job I was thinking about receiving my package, accidentally spilling some on my floor, it starts to contaminate and spread throughout my house. Walls become sandstone and basalt, floor becomes a pile of fines, areoforming the house and spreading throughout Earth.
I'm happy.
