i continue to hate new jersey
This happened a few months ago, thought I posted something here but apparently it joined the maelstrom of ephemera in the social cloud aggregate known as Twitter. If I did already post it, tough shit.
I'm at the Crystal Diner in Toms River with my fellow astronomy club members. I'm the youngest member, with everyone pushing sixty or seventy.
One member is going on about the refugee crisis in Europe, making the bold statement that there are so many refugees in Sweden that country has become a Muslim state.
The statistic sounds nice, it affirms our fears, and illustrates how a homogenous country of "pure" people can be overwhelmed by the unwashed brown hordes babbling in squiggles rather than honest Latin characters.
After checking my phone in fewer than five minutes, I have three unbiased sources noting Sweden's Muslim population is 5%. Compare to ~1% in the United States of America. I call them out on it and get the dirtiest fucking look in the universe.
