Part of my latest effort to lose weight is to avoid snacking.
I'm well aware of the stance where people eat six little meals throughout the day, boosting metabolism, rather than three big meals. But one of my astronomy club friends, who has lost 100 pounds so far, says he's cut out snacking as part of his regimen.
It's fucking tough. Chewing gum and drinking water is okay but there needs to be some serious hardcore distractions to stop one's mind from thinking, "Just a small cup full of regular Cheerios. It can't hurt! It's healthy, ffs!"
But I've stopped watching television to the point that I can't stand being around a television.
I'm not as addicted to the internet as I once was, but I have my moments. On the bright side, when the missus says she needs me I will shut everything down and walk away knowing it'll be there when I get back. By the time I do get back I can't remember what held my attention in the first place.
The harder part is cutting out beef from my diet. Sure, I'll still eat it socially but I'm going to work to avoid it. Last two times I had a hamburger at my favorite restaurant, I felt ill afterwards. Chicken, turkey, fish, and pork are perfectly fine in my book.
There's no way I'm going to go vegan, let alone vegetarian.
