9/25/2015 Leeds, NJ -- Renovations at the old police department on Central Avenue are on track for the building's projected grand re-opening in January 2016, based on local architect Dave McCartney's presentation at city hall earlier this week. After the century-old building's pipes burst last June, Governor Christie approved $150,000 for the revitalization of the city's law enforcement. The 20th century revival structure will maintain its facade, with the interior getting a 21st century upgrade making it one of the most wired law enforcement agencies in Pine County. A charity raffle for a 2015 Ford Mustang will be held on October 1st to fund a proposed Police Athletic League baseball field in a nearby lot.

9/28/2015 Leeds, NJ -- Tragedy struck Grey University on Sunday morning when the Eta Pi Lambda house at 1728 Bayshore Boulevard in Leeds collapsed on itself, killing eleven students. Names have not been released pending notification of relatives. Emergency responders were unable to recover bodies from the ruined building, with efforts hampered by curious onlookers, unsafe conditions, and a severe, late afternoon thunderstorm. Nearly all members of Eta Pi Lambda were players on the Grey University Hammerheads football team, leaving coach Boris Starkweather stunned and considering the next step for the team. "Eight great players were lost last night, and Grey University will always honor their memory." Coach Starkweather remains confident regarding the Hammerheads's prospects in the 2015 season, as star quarterback Quantavius Jones was out of state for a family function. The Hammerheads trounced their longtime rivals, the Crossley Grizzlies, on Saturday afternoon in a 23-21 upset after Claude Leonard pulled off a two point conversion in overtime.
