Just finished the latest feature at Nature Futures. "All, Alone" by Tim Cassford.
While reading, I presumed the story would turn out one way but it went in another direction.
My story idea, and presumption, was the protagonist was off their meds and they're hearing voices. Protag's in a future society where everyone plays games, moderate communities, and engage in other online activities as part of the economy. The meds don't silence schizophrenic, hallucinatory voices but deafen the user to the people all around them.
I need to figure out how the hell someone could be in the midst of hundreds of people and not be aware of their physical presence.
