First Person:
[An urgent voice suddenly breaks through the silence of the live feed. A young woman with dark hair is speaking through gasps. She's in obvious pain. She's also ignoring that obvious pain. There are more important things at stake here.]
Cloud...! Marlene...! He took-[She takes a sharp breath.] Marlene...! W-Where...?
[She sounds delirious, her eyes glazed and swimming. She's fading fast into the blanket of unconsciousness. Her hand, once clutched clumsily to the communicator, lets it drop and she's out of sight as it hits the floor. It doesn't seem like she's even realized that she's turned it on. Her breathing can be heard. But nothing else.]
Third Person:
Where was he? How was he?
Tifa had been plagued with these thought for the past week. Cloud had left without much of a word. He had a tendency to do that. And she had gotten used to it after a little while. Not that she wanted to, but she couldn't chase after him. She had kids to take care of. Marlene and Denzel, to be more specific. And she wouldn't leave them. But that didn't mean she wouldn't leave him out of her sight exactly either. She just... hoped that he would finally give in and stay. That he would realize what mattered the most for them now.
Always trying to do things on his own, solve his own problems when he felt like it was all on him. She might not have known what was going on, but she certainly wasn't stupid. And he knew that, too. She wiped the bar counter practically raw as she thought it over. Let her frustration out on it while the kids weren't around. Then deal with them asking her where he was later.
Cloud, can't you see? We're here and we're family. You aren't alone. So, why do you always stray away?
Life certainly was very different from back when they teamed up with their group of misfit friends to take down Sephiroth. Sure, it wasn't easy. Those had been hard times, too. But Cloud... He had been so much stronger. And trusted them so much more. Now, he was fading from their lives. How long would it be until he just disappeared completely? Tifa didn't want to think of that.
