Torchwood day (in the US) approaches
Torchwood has some good press leading up to the season 2 premiere on BBCA - mentions in the LA Times, Tv Guide, NY Times, NY Post and syndicated articles at a bunch of smaller papers (Fresno Bee etc).
My Torchwood DVDs are scheduled to arrive tommorrow. Yes! Still waiting for my first issue of the TW magaazine. New TW books and JB's autobiography are on pre-order. Pondering importing audiobooks, but I'll wait a bit and see if they pop up in the US later in the year as the printed stuff did. I hate being in the States sometimes. Being an anglophile is PITA when you have to import so much stuff. But the worst has just happened. My DirecTV is not working and I can't get a tech for 2 weeks! What the hell is going on, everyone's box is broken? Tons of people had problems during the NFL playoffs on Sunday. Arrgh now I can't watch the American edited TW. I want to see the US promos. sigh. Thankfully I did see the BBC version. Still it'd be nice to see it on my TV.
In light of that news here's some while I watched it.
Hmm James Bond reference and I suppose Jack's M.O. as well.
Have you seen a blowfish driving a sports car? Hee the blowfish was nice enough to let the old lady cross the street. If only some drivers here had such manners.
Bloody Torchwood. Not very secret - esp with the name engraved on the SUV.
They see tthe fish ahead and this is one bit that was bad, the fake leaning in the SUV - doesn't help that Burn and Eve don't move at the same time.
Owen seems to be in charge in the next scene in the house as they take positions to surround the blowfish and his hostage.
3 grams of cocaine. The fish is wired?! A drugged out fish! May be why he rambles so much. But how does he know so much about them?
The office boy - I suppose it's a upgrade from tea-boy. Now the fish's taunting Ianto to shoot him -- oh dead fish -- eww fish brains. Ianto's a crack shot? Nope it's Jack!

Back at the Hub, Gwen looks to be in charge. Hmm, leadership by committee perhaps?
Gwen pushes Jack. Anger's good, I'm still not thrilled with Jack's reaction to the Doctor leaving him. So good to see they don't make it like it's no big deal.

Owen: Did he fix you?
Jack: What's to fix. You don't mess with this level of perfection
Ianto: Are you going back to him?
Jack: I came back to you [BIG PAUSE while the camera goes to Ianto] All of you.
Ooo beeping in dead fish's pocket, rift activity and there's that glowy bit revealing Spike! Sorry, Captain John Hart who spots someone threatening another guy. He lifts him by the neck with one arm. Spike could do that, but how does a 51st century time agent get that kind of stregth? He got some alien in the bloodlines, genetic upgrade, steroids, android...?
What do you do after you murder someone? Why go to a bar for a drink and dismiss the ones you don't like (including one guy wearing one of JB's stripy shirts)
The gang finds the dead body with them mainly ignoring Jack.
Jack: I was hoping for a little power struggle, resolved by some naked wresting.

The Jack/Gwen scene. Starts well then we get - The thought of coming back to you. ok then Eve goes big fawn eyes at him. Liked the Rhys popping his back out. No one else will have me. WTF then her all going fangirly when he kisses her cheek. Urggg stop trying to force the love thing with them. It doesn't work.
Plan of action in the boardroom - better with Jack being all big brother with Gwen.
Oh Rhys and your timing in calls. And Gwen forgetting Jack's rule of turning her back to Capt John and having him snog her. Paralyzing lipgloss - is it sonic? heehee But there she goes again being the one in trouble.

Ouch, Jack drapped over that benchy thing. I can see JB's tummy. Too many pastries my dear boy. Though I'm sure it's gone after all those panto performances.
Teamwork finds Gwen. While John goes and pieces together his prize. But the gang has caught up, along with non-splat Jack. Jack really shouldn't have walked in front of Gwen/Ianto, ruins their aim if they needed it.
More explaination of semi-plot. Ooh nasty tick-like bomb. Ianto's stopwatch makes it's promised appearance.
Oh Gwen in trouble again-chained to Capt John. Ah the old swallow the key trick.
Capt John: That's gorgeous.
Gwen: That's a poodle.

Oh reset again. Yeah Gwen punching Capt John. Aww he wants to be part of TW. Goodbye kissy. And they just let him go?

Basically, Torchwood is back. Snarky, in-jokes abound, boykissing with cast & guest star and Gwen was useful. Looking good. With 3 million+ and of AI:84 in the UK, should be renewed for season 3 if it keeps up.
