So I went to England again.

In Which Moogle Experiences Her First Moor, Narrowly Escapes Death By Evil Dolls, And Has Far Too Much Fun With A Tiny Roddy Plushie

navigatorsghost and koilungfish kindly invited me up to their place along with (ij)deepbluesquee in the mystical land of England, nestled in the moors, which until now I'd had to picture as kind of a grassland with a Hot Topic addiction. Turns out this is what they look like:

Outside the window.

I was recovering from the flu at the time, so I spent most of the time on the couch, being fed a steady diet of Top Gear and encountering British culture via strange and curious foodstuffs. :D True to form, we were also very silly:

Wark wark wark!

In the name of the moon, I will - well, you know. :3

There was also a playground within walking distance (that's British walking distance, which over here in the United States of America we call "HYUUUUURGH *hack hack cough heart attack*"), so like a bunch of big dorks, we went and played on it! And so did Roddy. :DDD

I am beginning to regret my choices.

WHEEEEEEEE

Training for Ultimate Ninja Warrior!

It wasn't all schlubbing about, though. As our vacation-within-a-vacation, we went and visited this fabulous place!

TADAAAAAAAAA

The seaside town of Whitby! No, we didn't go swimming. That's the North Atlantic in January, are you nuts?

Dramatic sky shot, GO.

Instead we wandered around the town, peeked in the shops, ate at a lovely cake shop,

Roddy, get out of the sugar.

...and climbed the 199 steps (I didn't count, I'm taking it on faith, but I made it up all of them! Take that, gravity!) to the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, which is on a biiiiiig cliff overlooking Whitby and surrounded by ancient gravestones. It's also within spitting distance of this place:

The old Whitby Abbey. ('Boots took this picture, I was too short to see over the wall.)

We stayed the night at La Rosa, a charming bed and breakfast with a deeply disturbing decorative sense. Seriously, there was this doll in a glass case in the foyer of our suite that I was convinced was going to come to life and murder us all in our beds. No picture of that one, just in case my iThing got possessed. I did get this one though:

Light the lanterns! Hoist the mainsail! Be incredibly cute!

Anyway, we survived the night, and were rewarded with a picnic breakfast.

Warm cheese scones and jam! A breakfast worthy of a brave warrior!

Then we explored a few antique shops;

My OTP in their steampunk AU incarnation. ;)

had dinner at a diner;

OoooOOOOOoooh.

...and came home for more Top Gear and flop. ^_^

Conclusion: I had a blast, and will definitely be back. So will tinyRoddy. :DDDD
