So there's this guy at the old folks' home where my grandma lives, whom I shall call Ernie. Ernie doesn't have a lot of friends, but he's made good friends with Grandma, in part because he raves about her cooking to no end. When Grandma makes something she knows he likes, she makes some extra and brings it to him. So it's a nice little friendly arrangement they have going: Ernie gets fed, Grandma gets flattered, it's all good.

Mom told me today that Ernie found it necessary to have a serious talk with Grandma recently. "Mooglegrandma," he said, "my girlfriend has been getting phone calls recently that I've been cheating on her with you. We both know that's not true, but would you like to have my girlfriend's phone number so that you can talk to her as well?" "Why yes, that would be lovely," said Grandma (or something to that effect).

Guys, my grandma is in the middle of a sex scandal at the old folks' home. Have I mentioned how very much I want to be just like her when I get old? ^_^

And also, more from "Raph Has a Student"-verse, because jennielf asked and I got another scenesquirrel. ;)

"Why you - hey!"

Raphael flailed at the blanket his student had tossed over his head, tossed it aside and took off after her at a dead run. She kept ahead of him through pure terror-stoked adrenaline, dashing down the hallway into the family room where the other brothers were gathered around the couch.

"Catch!" she called, tossing something black at the nearest of her sensei. Donatello caught it without thinking.

"What-" he began.

Raphael, inches from catching her, turned on a dime and launched himself at his brother. The two of them went over the back of the couch into Leo and Mikey's laps, who leapt up with yelps of protest as Raph pinned Donny against the cushion.

"Get off me, you lunatic!" Donny shoved an elbow in between himself and his brother.

"Just give me the bag!" Raph snatched the object of contention out of Donny's hands and opened it, only to choke in fury when he pulled out a small stuffed turtle. "What the hell?"

His student, standing a safe distance away at the entrance, waggled his Captain America comic book at him with a grin. "Ninja tactic number five: misdirection," she singsonged.

A gnarled hand plucked the comic from her, making her squeak. "Ninja tactic number four," Splinter said mildly, handing it back to Raphael. "Situational awareness."

"I'll write it down, Sensei," the girl promised sheepishly.
