I had planned before the trip that I was going to make two scrapbooks. One would be the "official" book, with the play-by-play of what happened and when in it. The other would be a mini book, just for K, where I will probably put pictures of her with characters, recreate some autographs, and maybe chronicle her boutique experience. Alright, and whatever else she wants me to put.
So I had decided to wait until we got to Disney to buy the scrapbooks. After all, there is a store in Downtown Disney that is supposed to be asolutely nothing but scrapbooking supplies and photo-type things.
It was closed. (Opening this fall!)
But we went into the big Disney store they had there and found a few scrapbooking supplies. There was a leather-bound book with a metal castle coin-type thing on it. I liked it, but agreed that it would probably be a better idea to get the one that said 2008 on it in classic characters. 8x8 mini book? Princess book? No. Hrm. Maybe they will have something somewhere else?
Seriously. That statement didn't work 10 years ago when you were looking for a Mushu, and it didn't work this year. When, exactly, will you learn?
Everywhere that sold scrapbooking supplies had the exact same books: 2008 with classic characters, Navy Leather with castle, Sorcerer Mickey. And NO 8x8 mini books. Photo albums, yes, but the kind where you can't even be creative with how the pictures go into the album (do they not make those anymore???)
So, I had my trusty digital camera. I also took the darling Disney Princess 35mm camera that I bought for Katy that I haven't let her use yet. I took PICTURES. By Wednesday evening, I had taken between three and four hundred pictures. And then we went to the Grand Floridian. There we were...K all dolled up as Cinderella, hair, makeup, nails, costuming, EVERYTHING...posing with Prince Charming...and...
The camera won't work.
It refused to work the rest of the trip. (Which is why, if I were sending you pictures, you haven't seen any pictures from beyond that day.) I was so incredibly angry. I used K's camera to take pictures (reminding me of how I'm not a great photographer). And then...after we got home, I emailed Sanyo, telling them how disappointed I was in a camera I'd only had since May and it wouldn't work. Their response?
Go to the menu, click to system tools. Click on system reset.
...
I'm still pissed, but at least the camera works? (Because Walmart only honors 30 days...and Sanyo only honors 90 days...)
So, after we got home, I loaded over 300 pictures onto a jump drive to take in so I could have them printed...good, quality pictures for the scrapbook, right?
Could not find jump drive until yesterday...
...when I unloaded the washing machine....
...So I left it where it could dry out...
Thankfully, the drive still works...the pictures are still there...now I need to go and get them printed so I can get started on the book. (Or, well...I do have the opening page done of the big book.
BTW...photo pass is cool. However, should you think you might want the pictures...pay in advance for the CD. They give you copyrights on the pictures with the CDs (you know, so you can go and have the pictures printed for less than $15 per picture...), so it's 124.95 if you get it after the trip....and 99.95 or so if you prepay. *d'oh!*
Eventually, I will be working on a decent trip report, which I will likely be posting to the DIS boards. We'll see...
