Me and a Nun

I tried to go to Otavalo from Quito today, but there was a parro to protest the signing of the TLC and the power that Oxxy (petroleum company) (where people throw burning debris in the streets to prevent busses from passing) and I was stranded in Tabacundo. I met a woman on the bus who was nice enough to let me go to her house and use her phone to get in touch with a friend of mine that lives there. She went to Cuba when she 14, lived there for 14 years, came back and is now an agronomic Engineer. She made me coffee and we had an amazing talk about politics and Ecuador and Cuba and American policy and 9/11. She said she thinks that Ecuador could be at the brink of civil war, that it was like a volcano, all may seem quiet from the surface, but underneath there is something building. I would believe it too. People are getting angry, there have been more and more protests and parros every month that I have been here.

I ended up spending the night at Amy´s and trying to get out of town the next day, which consisted of climbing over burning rubble, joking with cab drivers, chatting with police men, trying not to bump into the trigger happy military men with tear gas, guns, and clubs just waiting to make a cameo, and finally making it to a bus going to Otavalo, where I sat with a nun and tried not to disclose the fact that I am working for a reproductive health organization.

I am not really sure what the point of this entry was, but I feel the best way to close this entry is with my true ecuadorian love.

So the premise of the show is that there is a group of ridiculously rich and attractive students that attend Elite Way school, who also happen to have a rock group called R.B.D.  Although they seem to everything their lives are frought with hardship.  Pre-marital sex, the obstacles that come with dating someone homeless, rockstar mothers, biological fathers posing as teachers, Jewish Mexican boyfriends returning from Israel to find that he´s been replaced, being fat...the list could go on.  It really is all that I could as for in a teen melodrama.

The other night I dreamt I had sex with Diego and then found out he gave me AIDS.

What an asshole.
