Crossposting some Sherlock Feelings from tumblr
I wrote a small entry about Lestrade so I will post it here as well where I can't lose it among the reblogs. I might also do the same with my Mawaru Penguindrum analysis posts.
My favorite part of that episode (besides everything Martin Freeman that’s already a given), was just… everything Greg Lestrade. I CANNOT STRESS HOW MUCH I LOVE RUPERT GRAVES!LESTRADE. He was brilliant in Death at a Funeral too but it can’t compare to his Lestrade okok (´･ω･`)
I mean… just the way he reacted to the accusations against Sherlock and how Sherlock counted him as one of the three people he cares about enough to be held against him as collateral, it was all beautiful. Lestrade’s writing is kind of spotty in the ACD stories but I’m glad the writers picked the best side of him (the one that appreciates Sherlock and constantly trusts him even if he finds him completely frustrating) and made him a serious and important character in the show.
It was the small things too! The comparison of him to King Arthur was so lulzy (ESPECIALLY WHEN JIM WAS THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND IN THE BEGINNING THERE), the fact that he called to warn them before they came to arrest him, the quick shot of him burying his face in his hands when Sherlock grabbed the gun… oh man. Oh man oh man. We already know John is going to punch Sherlock when he comes back, but I for one hope Lestrade punches him too (or at least buries his face in his hands again).
