Furi Enlightenment, Day 3
Day 3 of Oofuri Enlightenment... week and a half perhaps (or however long I feel like doing this)~ I'm glad people seem to be finding my posts helpful or entertaining.. somewhat... XD
I decided to make a post on Hamada even though he's not like an obscure character or anything. He still doesn't get enough love!!!! Everyone should be fully awakened to the charms of the adorkable danchou. Screenshots are ganked from makaioh's LJ gallery, which is the Internet's greatest Hamada resource, trufax.

Full Name: Hamada Yoshirou
VA: Kisaichi Atsushi
Class: Year 1 Class 9
Birthdate: Dec. 19
Bloodtype: B
Height/Weight: 186 cm/70 kg (6'1"/154 lb)
Family: Parents, younger brother
Trademarks: Messy blonde hair, ouendan clothes
Bio: The captain of Nishiura's ouendan. He was Izumi's sempai on the baseball team in junior high, and Mihashi's playmate when they both lived at Yamagishi Apartments, aka Gishi-gishi Apts. (Rushing Creek/Creaking Rust English version thought of by Val) When Mihashi didn't have a glove, Hamada gave him his old one and taught Mihashi how to have fun playing baseball. Presently he is in the same class as Mihashi, Tajima and Izumi, but he was held back for lack of attendance and is really a year older than them. The reason he was held back is his "sordid past" according to his former classmates, but Hamada himself maintains that it's because he was "stupid."
He had to stop playing baseball himself because of a handicap he developed called Little League elbow, but he continues to support the players by forming the ouendan. He also comes to help at practices, often bringing other students with him. He is very good at sewing and made the team's banner and the ouendan armbands himself.
(Mild Spoilers?) According to his classmates, his father lost his job and the rest of his family moved to Kyuushu, but Hamada remained in Sakitama. He currently lives alone and works part-time to pay his own tuition. (I forget where it actually says this in the manga).
Relationships: Even though Hamada was Izumi's former sempai, now that they are classmates Izumi doesn't treat him like a sempai at all, but is rather rebellious towards him since it seems like he wishes Hamada would play baseball again. Hamada was Mihashi's childhood friend and still gets along with him, though he is a little weirded out by his scaredy-cat personality (which means that Mihashi wasn't always so jumpy, perhaps). It's apparent that Hamada's emotionally as well as physically older than his three classmates, though, as he often appears exasperated by their childlike behavior. The other baseball team members treat Hamada with respect, and Hamada and his two friends often react emotionally to their gestures. Hanai especially seems to have realized something about Hamada's reasons for making the ouendan. His fellow ouendan members, Umehara and Kajiyama, are his former classmates, and both are good friends with him even though they have a very different knowledge of him than the players do.
Taka Weighs In: I ♥ Hamada (but my love pales in comparison to Val's, who got me into really liking Hamada in the first place). I love him because he often yells out exactly what I'm thinking during certain points in the series (especially in the Tosei finale). I also like how he's more of an adult compared to the innocent kids, and he does just about everything he can for them aside from actually playing on the team. I'm really curious about what happened in his past... I wonder if Higuchi is going to tell us anything ever?
