I just heard the news that the Jasmine You, the bassist of Versailles, passed away this morning. I'm... in shock. When I clicked the cut to the news post, I was expecting to hear the norm "bad news" for a Jrock band: they're going on hiatus, breaking up, something like that. Not that he's actually dead.
I've fallen mostly out of Jrock, but for a band I used to love dearly, and still enjoy, this is very, very heartbreaking. He wasn't my favorite member or anything like that, but I did love him, and had done so from his days in Hizaki Grace Project. He always seemed like such a beautiful and composed person. I used to have a video of him smiling and laughing and playing with other members of the band, and it made me happy, too, to watch that. I don't know where it is anymore. I'll have to look for it later, but now, I have a hard time looking at him without crying.
I just hope he's been taken to a better place now. He deserves it. I sincerely wish his family and the rest of the band the best of luck in coping with his death.
Rest in peace, Jasmine You.
You won't be forgotten.
jasmine you,
versailles
