Well, I landed myself in the hospital again. Only a two day visit this time, but still not a great deal of fun.
I had three bowel/ileostomy obstructions last week. The final one lasted for 15 or so hours, and was some of the most excruciating pain I've ever known. Talked to my surgeon about it, and he hospitalized me for IV fluids and observation, and he didn't let me eat anything. Pah.
Then they fed a catheter into my stoma and blasted some contrast up there so they could xray my bowels live-action style. I got to watch the whole thing. Mighty uncomfortable, but still cool.
I was no longer obstructed. They let me go home the next day.
Before releasing me, my surgeon asked me when I'd like to have my ileostomy reversed(colon hooked back up), and I requested as soon as possible. He seemed to think that would be okay, since the ileostomy was making my life difficult, with the whole frequently obstructing deal. So he said he could get rid of my poop bag in just two short weeks from now. As long as there is an opening on his schedule. I'll find out when I call monday and try to make an appointment.
I finally got my disability check in the mail, nearly a month after I applied for it. Sadly most of it is going toward bills. C'est la vie.
I just put clean sheets on my bed, and now my back hurts.
On my discharge papers the doctor that released me said I shouldn't lift more than 15 lbs for the next 2 weeks, which means I can't go back to work before the estimated time of my surgery date.
So I probably won't be heading back to work until around Christmas or just after it.
I'm still paranoid that Fred Meyers will find some loophole in this whole thing and figure out a way to fire me.
