School is AWSOME!!!

What can I say, I love being back in school.  We have had a few weeks now and are settling into a routine.  I really am enjoying my classes and I'm excited about my research proposels.  For the Early Flemish class, I'm thinking about working on images of St. Veronica with the Sudarium.  I'm wondering if I can show a correleation between the popularity of this cult and changing theories of "likeness" in the 15th century.... For the Medieval Image Theory, I wanted to do something with a miracle image or maybe the way images were used to increase pilgrimage, but then I had a breakthrough on a section of the Libri Carolini.  I thought I was just making a simple observation, but the whole room silenced up and Dr. Holliday looked up and mentioned that I might have a nice little article there, if my theory holds up (basically, that Theodolf may have been referencing an illuminated Ovid's Metamorphoses when he rants against pagan imagery).  So I might look into that, but I'm not really sure.  Maybe I could start with that, since the theory itself should be easy enough to validate, and if it dosn't turn out, then I can turn towards miracle images (I kinda want to go back to the Man of Sorrows of Santa Croce, but I don't know if I should branch out and start something new or not.)

Anastacia is doing really well.  We are working on reading "The Lorax" together, and she is going to start Hockey this saterday.  From what little observation I have been able to make, she seems to be getting along well with the kids in her class.  Several mornings, we have walked in right as her class is walking down the hall (the kinders meet in the Music room, and then walk down as a class 5-7 min before school starts).  Each time this happens, a handfull of kids (especially the little boys) start waving and calling out "Hi Anastacia! Come get in line with me!"  I'm glad she is making friends, and playing well with them, though she still really misses her friends up in Dallas.  Hopefully we can make it up soon so she can see them (especially, her beloved Jordan)
