Merlin apparently had a really good day at school, I got a wonderful daily report card on him.
Had a bit of bad news about Athena's schooling. She came to me and told me about an error in her textbook, and how the error was "corrected" to match with the books for the rest of the class... and the information was still wrong. It was a different teacher than the one that had the audacity to say the town I grew up in (and where mom still lives) doesn't exist. I'm really displeased. It's school all over again, incorrect texts.
Did I write a letter to complain? You bet. Athena even brought her book home to show me, and just in case my memory was faulty, I looked it up. My memory was right, and I'm proud of my daughter for catching the error to tell me about. I want the school to teach my kid the correct info. I'd really rather not home school yet since I want her to have social interaction (and those that know me well... you all know Athena wouldn't get a recess break with me as teacher... I'd burn her out on coursework.).
When she's older, homeschool will work, but at this stage of her development...
Athena's also made me extremely happy today by asking to eat up the eggplant before it's past its prime. I was pleased because it shows me that she is also keeping an eye on the state of our veggies, displaying an interest in meal prep and planning, and an interest in nutrition. It's extremely gratifying that she requests healthy things instead of candy all the time like most children seem to.
The other day, she answered a question at a higher level than her questioner expected as well, and higher than the choices that were given.
Also pleased to note that Athena likes poetry quite a bit. We were reading a book together and it was very amusing to see how she perked up when we came to a selection from Basho.
